When I was in sixth grade the Whidbey Island school district tried to introduce the metric system into our lazy American lives. It was part of a national program and from what I have read it was long overdue because the rest of the world had already adopted it.
But being American it of course did not take. We were decades away from the internet, only had three television stations (and PBS) but let’s be blunt here. In the late 1970’s the United States had better things to do like well, anything.
One would think that over the years we would have absorbed some of this very efficient and easy to learn numbering and measuring system. I mean just through casual osmosis we should have picked up something. Here we are over 40 years later, what terms are you familiar with?
