Operation Gladio: False Flag Terror Attacks Never Stopped After Cold War

By Alex Thomas
January 14, 2012

From terror attacks in Italy and Belgium, to the assassination of the Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro in 1978, Operation Gladio, the stand behind army in the event of the invasion of Europe by the Soviets, actually resulted in a widespread campaign of terror.

According to numerous experts on the operation, Gladio was infiltrated by the CIA and NATO, turned into a terrorist organization, and subsequently used as a political weapon to force Europeans into voting for establishment politicians throughout the use of terrorist acts to create a narrative of fear.

“One of P-2’s specialties was the art of provocation. Leftist organizations like the Red Brigades were infiltrated, financed and / or created, and the resulting acts of terrorism, like the assassination of Italy’s premier in 1978 and the bombing of the railway station in Bologna in 1980, were blamed on the left.

The goal of this ’strategy of tension’ was to convince Italian voters that the left was violent and dangerous-by helping make it so,” wrote Mark Zepezauer.

During a recent interview by author Richard Cottrell, these facts were brought to light with Cottrell making the startling statement that Gladio has NOT ended as previously claimed.

Tonight we are going to take a look at the role of Central Intelligence Agency in sponsoring false flag operations, in particular we will be examining Operation Gladio, a cold war black opera orchestrated by the CIA who launched terrorist attacks in Italy and throughout Europe in order to blame leftist communists.

The chosen targets were usually public places in order to create maximum impact.

Bombs were planted in banks and railway stations and trains. Snipers fired at will into innocent crowds of peaceful protesters or weekend shoppers simply out buying groceries.

It was a slaughter of the innocents, and the United States, working through the CIA and secret war departments of NATO, carried out a long series of false flag attacks throughout the European continent to meet its own political ends. “

If Operation Gladio has never ended then all terror attacks throughout Europe and even those in the United States, should be looked out with a highly suspicious eye.

“Gladio is active alive, working, and plotting to this day.

It is behind terrorist atrocities which have been performed in Europe not just 20 30 40 years ago but which have been performed within shall we say minutes in the historic record.

This is the important thing to remember, all the time we keep talking about Gladio as something that happened in the past, it was a long time ago maybe we should bury now…

Its not, this is an organization or idea or brand or trademark which is so useful you cannot put it away.

Using facts gained through investigation into Operation Gladio and then fast forwarding to the present, one must wonder if these same elements within the US government are once again carrying out false flag attacks on innocent civilians (including Americans) to further push their political goals. (disarming the American people among other tyrannical plans)

As investigations into both the Colorado Batman movie shooting and the Sandy Hook Shooting have shown, many different attacks within American have had all the hallmarks of a false flag operation and, among numerous other operations and false flag plans that have become public, Operation Gladio shows that elements of our government have in the past carried out false flag terror attacks.

For instance, when you take an independent minded look at the details revolving around the Sandy Hook Shooting a series of startling facts comes to light.

Once again a government-funded mock emergency drill was being conducted at a nearby local school at the very same time the supposed realtime shooting was taking place at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut – leaving all the fingerprints of a government staged false flag event to strip guns from the American people.

Many people involved in responding to the Newtown school shooting have been shown to be participants in active shooter drills either in the past or on the very day of the shooting. To top it all off, there are still many inconsistencies in the official story.

One of the noticeable problems with the official story is that alleged shooting suspect Adam Lanza’s car was identified as a black Honda Civic, Connecticut plate number 872 YEO which is registered to a one Christopher A Rodia (born August 1969), totally discrediting the official story.

An excerpt from a local publication details the fact that an active-shooter drill was indeed taking place during the actual event known as the Newtown or Sandy Hook Schools Shooting, thus signifying all of the classic signs of a false flag operation.

Fast forwarding to the present, we have seen a large-scale media attack on the 2nd Amendment and now, in a startling turn of events, elements of the corporate media are literally attacking those who question the shooting.

When you consider the fact that the corporate media has absolutely been complicit in the Sandy Hook Shooting, it makes sense that they would send an elitist Vanderbilt (Anderson Cooper) to broadcast one of the most hardcore segments of shilling the corporate media has ever conducted.

The above facts are merely a small fraction of the startling details that have come to light in regards to the Sandy Hook Shooting as well as the horrific Colorado theater shooting.

So, with the knowledge of Operation Gladio and the details surrounding numerous attacks within the US, is it possible that elements of the current United States government are involved in black ops staged terror as we speak?

Towards the end of the interview with Infowars Nightly News, Cottrell was asked if he thought attacks of the sort carried out under the auspice of Operation Gladio were a possibility in America.

Do you think they are barbaric enough to kill innocent children as an excuse to attack our 2nd Amendment?

To that end, his stern and straight forward yes reply should open the eyes of free thinking citizens throughout the world.

Wyden asks Obama’s terrorism chief for rules governing assassination of U.S. citizens

By Stephen C. Webster

Drone aircraft via AFP

Before he votes to confirm Obama terrorism czar John Brennan as head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) has a few rather touchy questions.

Specifically, a letter published by Wired revealed that he asked Brennan about the rules governing the use of drone aircraft to assassinate American citizens overseas — a topic the administration has been rather secretive about.

“Senior intelligence officials have said publicly that they have the authority to knowingly use lethal force against Americans in the course of counterterrorism operations, and have indicated that there are secret legal opinions issued by the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel that explain the basis for this authority,” Wyden wrote. “I have asked repeatedly to see these opinions, and I have been provided with some relevant information on the topic, but I have yet to see the opinions themselves.”

The killing of American citizens by drones is not something that’s happened frequently, but it is of great concern to many civil libertarians. So far, only three American citizens are known to have been killed in drone strikes, and two of them were declared enemy combatants: militant cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, his 16-year-old son and al Qaeda propagandist Samir Khan.

A lawsuit over the killings filed by al-Awlaki’s family and the American Civil Liberties Union was shot down earlier in January (PDF) by a federal judge in New York, although the judge acknowledged that the targeted killings raise profound constitutional questions.

“This ruling denies the public access to crucial information about the government’s extrajudicial killing of U.S. citizens and also effectively green-lights its practice of making selective and self-serving disclosures,” ACLU deputy legal director Jameel Jaffer said in an advisory. “As the judge acknowledges, the targeted killing program raises profound questions about the appropriate limits on government power in our constitutional democracy. The public has a right to know more about the circumstances in which the government believes it can lawfully kill people, including U.S. citizens, who are far from any battlefield and have never been charged with a crime.”

The ACLU still has other lawsuits pending before U.S. courts that could force the disclosure of the Obama administration’s legal justification for assassinating American citizens it views as enemy combatants. Meanwhile, Wyden’s plea is the latest effort to get any hint of relevant information out of the administration.

“As I have said before, this situation is unacceptable,” Wyden wrote. “For the executive branch to claim that intelligence agencies have the authority to kill American citizens but refuse to provide Congress with any and all legal opinions that explain the executive branch’s understanding of this authority represents an alarming and indefensible assertion of executive prerogative.”

America, Flirting with the Dark Side of History

By Decree Of The King: “There Are Some Steps That We Can Take That Don’t Require Legislation”

Mac Slavo
Jan 15, 2013

President Obama, much like his predecessors, has implemented scores of policy changes by way of Executive Order, a legal technique that allows the Commander-In-Chief to delegate legislation that, just like a bill passed in Congress, has the full force and authority of law.

Presidents have used executive powers to delegate authority over all sorts of issues since Abraham Lincoln first used this Executive power to mobilize troops against rebels operating in southern states. Franklin Roosevelt declared the possession of gold illegal by way of executive order in the 1930′s. A recent order by President Obama authorizes the seizure of farms, energy resources and skilled laborers in the event of a declared national emergency. An order authorizing the use of force and war in Kosovo was issued by President Bill Clinton in 1999.

Thousands of such orders have been issued, with President Obama having signed 144 of them so far during his first term.

But, arguably, there will be no Executive Order as significant and impactful as the one the President is promising to implement next.

According to assessments by Vice President Joe Biden and President Obama, they believe they have the authority to utilize this Constitutionally provided method of decree with respect to Americans’ right to bear arms:

My understanding is the vice president’s going to provide a range of steps that we can take to reduce gun violence.

Some of them will require legislation, some of them I can accomplish through executive action.

And so I will be reviewing those today, and as I said, I will speak in more detail to what we’re going to go ahead and propose later in the week.

But I’m confident that there are some steps that we can take that don’t require legislation and that are within my authority as president, and where you get a step that, has the opportunity to reduce the possibility of gun violence, then i want to go ahead and take it.

They may not have the ability to outlaw firearms, but you can bet they are exploring every legal loophole possible to restrict access to semi-automatic weapons (handguns and rifles), the acquisition of ammunition, and the private sale of guns and accessories between individuals.

Our only hope once done is that the Supreme Court will quickly move to reject the President’s decrees.

Obama to be joined by children when he unveils gun control agenda

With recommendations from Biden in hand, president expected to opt for legislative options rather than executive action

Tuesday 15 January 2013 14.04 EST

obama gun controlBarack Obama is to step up pressure on Congress to act on gun violence by surrounding himself with schoolchildren from across the country when he unveils proposals on Wednesday aimed at preventing a repeat of the Newtown massacre.

Although Obama can take implement some measures almost immediately through executive action, these are limited in scope. The wide-ranging proposals he is looking for require legislation, but he faces opposition from Congress, particularly among Republicans, backed by the National Rifle Association.

By bringing schoolchildren to the White House press conference, Obama can tap into some of the emotion aroused by the Connecticut massacre in December that left 20 children and seven adults dead.

At a White House press conference Tuesday, the president’s spokesman Jay Carney said: “I can tell you that tomorrow the president and vice-president will hold an event here at the White House to unveil a package of concrete proposals to reduce gun violence and prevent future tragedies like the one in Newtown, Connecticut.

“They will be joined by children from around the country who wrote the president letters in the wake of that tragedy expressing their concerns about gun violence and school safety along with their parents.”

Carney said that three measures the president wants would require legislation: a ban on automatic weapons; a reduction in the size of magazines holding bullets; and the closure of a loopholes that allows the sale of weapons at gunshows without the same kind of background checks as required elsewhere. Carney said the press conference was scheduled for 11.45am.

A Washington Post/ABC poll published Tuesday showed that 52% of Americans say they support gun controls in the wake of Newtown.

Vice-president Joe Biden, who is in charge of a taskforce set up by Obama to look into gun controls, promised last Thursday he would make an announcement Tuesday about his recommendations. Instead, it he has left it to Obama to take the lead.

Briefing members of Congress on Monday, Biden told them he had sent Obama 19 proposals that the president could implement through executive action, including better federal data to track gun sales.

Democratic congressman Don Barber, who was among those briefed, told CNN on Tuesday that while much could be done through executive action, the most serious aspects of gun control could only be addressed through legislation.

“In order to do something significant, we are going to have to pass laws,” said Barber, a former aide to congresswoman Gabby Giffords, shot in Tucson, Arizona, in January last year. Barber was elected to replace Giffords.

Texas Congressman Threatens Obama With Impeachment If He Uses Exec. Orders on Guns

Adan Salazar
January 15, 2013

A Texas Congressman is threatening president Obama with impeachment if his administration exercises executive action to scale back the Second Amendment.

In a press release titled, “Obama’s gun grab an unconstitutional threat to the nation,” republican Rep. Steve Stockman stated, “The White House’s recent announcement they will use executive orders and executive actions to infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms is an unconstitutional and unconscionable attack on the very founding principles of this republic.”

Rep. Stockman said that he will pursue “any means necessary” to thwart Obama’s use of executive orders targeting the Second Amendment “including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment.”

“Under no circumstances whatsoever may the government take any action that disarms any peaceable person – much less without due process through an executive declaration without a vote of Congress or a ruling of a court,” Rep. Stockman stated.

The Congressman said that the president’s actions would represent “not just an attack on the Constitution” but “a direct attack on Americans that place all of us in danger.”

“If the President is allowed to suspend constitutional rights on his own personal whims, our free republic has effectively ceased to exist.”

Congressman Stockman’s strong defense of the Second Amendment comes at a crucial time in the gun control debate. Anti-gun proponents have been envigored by the recent tragic events in Newtown, CT and are seeking to capitalize on the nation’s emotional vulnerability during this opportune moment to pass sweeping gun reform.

However, there are some law enforcers at local levels that say they will not enforce any unconstitutional mandates declared by the federal government. Sheriff Denny Peyman of Jackson County, Kentucky during a town hall speech this past Saturday, told attendees that he had no intention of taking anybody’s guns away. “I am responsible for the people inside this county,” stated Peyman, adding, “I couldn’t justify, if Obama passes this, it doesn’t matter what he passes, the sheriff has more power than the federal people.”

“I consider this a moral obligation… My office will not comply with any federal actions which violate the United States Constitution or the Kentucky Constitution which I swore to uphold,” Peyman declared.

Earlier this year, Rep. Stockman, along with Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA), introduced H.R. 35 IH, or “The Safe Schools Act of 2013,” a bill that would have eliminated “Gun Free Zones” around schools. The bill labeled the “Gun Free Zones Act” a “deadly failure,” and one section goes so far as to say “the reason that the `Gun Free School Zones Act’ has made American schools unsafe is that shooters now know that they can victimize American school campuses with no fear that victims will be armed.”

O war! Thou son of hell – As America stands on the verge of domestic war, my heart sobs for history harshly learned

Tuesday, January 15, 2013
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

history(NaturalNews) Those who live in artificial cities, plugged into the fabricated media and hypnotized by television are unable to see it, but America stands today on the verge of war. Not war for an enemy in some far-off land, but war with an enemy that has cleverly occupied our soil, our structures of power and our information infrastructure. This enemy is the enemy within, and it is insidious, dangerous and voracious in its appetite for power.

This enemy devours liberty without thought. It usurps power without conscience. It manipulates minds as quietly as a python enveloping its sleeping prey. It is a sinister serpent that strangles freedom, and it is this serpent that the masses have placed into power and begged to abandon the separation of powers that have kept our Republic relatively free for over two hundred years.

Today, America stands on the verge of domestic war precisely because America stands on the verge of dictatorship. A corporate-flavored variety of fascism has reared its ugly soul, where corporations and government conspire in dark rooms to rob from the American people their health, their paychecks, their voices and their rifles. The face of that fascism is unimportant because it is the same face that fascists have presented throughout history: the face of a talented orator, a handsome, even noble-looking gentleman, a man of the people who explains that his acts of power usurpation are only pursued with great reluctance and at the desperate demand of his constituents. This is the well-worn justification of Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Tse Teng, and now Barack Obama.

Such stories almost always end in blood. Those who do not respect the boundaries of power inevitably overstep them with a sense of delusional arrogance. They misconstrue, they miscalculate and they misunderstand their true place on the pages of history-to-be. Hitler believed he was creating a thousand-year era of peace and order, but instead he was remembered as a genocidal maniac. Stalin believed he, too, would build a “great empire” of innovation, production and expansion, but he went down in history as murderous tyrant.

Barack Obama is not nearly as popular among the U.S. masses today as Adolf Hitler was to the German population in the 1930’s, and history has yet to reveal the final role Obama will deserve. But it increasingly seems to be one that thrusts tens of millions of innocent people into a bloody conflict, drenched in mass murder carried out under a campaign of “political cleansing.”

Obama’s political doublespeak and veiled hatred for any who oppose his personal views are near-perfect echoes of the mannerisms of history’s murderous tyrants. Obama is not yet a mass murderer — not unless you count unmanned drone bombings of children in other nations — but he has set the stage for it, and America today stands as a tinderbox of potential revolt, ready to be ignited with even the slightest hint of further oppression.

True leadership is found in those who see the peace and prosperity of the nation as more important than their personal policy desires. To be a true leader is to put the future of the nation ahead of one’s self; to steer America away from a dangerous rise in hate-filled rhetoric and the endless antagonizing of patriots and constitutionalists by the media, Hollywood and politicians.

Beware, radicals on the left. Beware what you wish for… and what you unleash. Your continued insulting and “terrorist” labeling of legal firearms owners across America is only strengthening the resolve of those you would be unwise to provoke. Do not make the mistake of thinking that the military and law enforcement are on your side; they are not. The most capable defenders of American society today are also the most dedicated, sworn defenders of the American constitution and its Bill of Rights. If you press your fascist agenda too far, you will trigger an almost automatic response from every sector of society, law enforcement and the military.

And that response will drench the streets of our nation with unnecessary blood. This is why my heart sobs for history harshly learned.

From Shakespeare, Henry VI, Part II:

O war! thou son of hell,
Whom angry heavens do make their minister,
Throw in the frozen bosoms of our part
Hot coals of vengeance! Let no soldier fly.
He that is truly dedicate to war
Hath no self-love, nor he that loves himself,
Hath not essentially but by circumstance
The name of valour.

O, let the vile world end,
And the premised flames of the last day
Knit earth and heaven together!
Now let the general trumpet blow his blast,
Particularities and petty sounds
To cease!

Rand Paul Slams “King” Obama Over Executive Order Threat

Kentucky Senator says President is “usurping the constitution”

Paul Joseph Watson
January 14, 2013

As Barack Obama signaled that he would use executive orders to help carry out his gun control agenda, Senator Rand Paul slammed the president for acting like a “king,” usurping the Constitution, and running roughshod over Congress.

Speaking with CBN News, Paul remarked, “I’m against having a king. I think having a monarch is what we fought the American Revolution over and someone who wants to bypass the Constitution, bypass Congress — that’s someone who wants to act like a king or a monarch.”

FBI figures show more Americans are killed with hammers, clubs, hands and feet than rifles

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 by: J. D. Heyes

hammers(NaturalNews) A new set of data from the FBI shows what tens of millions of Americans already know but that Washington and other elitist politicians refuse to acknowledge: That for the past several years more people have been killed with clubs and hammers than with rifles.

According to the data:

— In 2005, there were 445 people killed with rifles, compared to 608 who were killed with a “blunt object” (club, hammer, etc.);

— In 2006, the numbers were 438 and 618 respectively; in 2007, 453 and 647; in 2008, 380 versus 603; and in 2009, there were 348 deaths by rifle compared to 611 who were killed with a blunt object.

Sheriff Says Teachers Should be Armed, 2nd Amendment Shall Not Be Infringed

Aaron Dykes
January 14, 2013

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is telling politicians and ordinary folks alike to step back from the gun control debate in order to hear from the law enforcement community.

But the mayor of the murder capitol of the world is clearly ignoring the voice of courageous law enforcement individuals who’ve been standing up for the Bill of Rights and Constitution, even in the wake of tragedy, to say they will NOT infringe on the right to bear arms.

Sheriff Denny Peyman of Jackson County, Kentucky, held a town hall meeting to explain to his constituents that the best way to live up to his responsibility to protect the residents of that county is to uphold their right to own guns.

Larry Pratt calmly schools ignorant Piers Morgan on history, compassion, humanity and freedom

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 by: J. D. Heyes

men(NaturalNews) It’s the least-watched show in its time slot on cable news, according to the latest ratings figures, but that doesn’t stop CNN‘s Piers Morgan from trying to be relevant anyway.

Having landed on a failing network after fleeing his native Great Britain in the wake of an email hacking scandal at a former media employer, Morgan has made a name here by trashing the U.S. Constitution and gun owners in particular by expressing a negative opinion about firearm ownership in a country where he has no say in the matter.

His latest attempt involved a second interview with Gun Owners of America chief Larry Pratt in as many weeks, as the issue of gun control continues to make headlines in the nation’s capital and around the country.

The interview began with Morgan showing viewers a clip of his earlier interview with founder Alex Jones, in which Jones angrily defended Americans’ right to keep and bear arms and promised Morgan that most gun owners would never surrender their weapons without a fight.

When the host asked Pratt what he thought about Jones’ comments, Pratt only congratulated Morgan for having improved his own demeanor from that previous interview, when the cheeky Brit insulted and denigrated Pratt for his pro-gun stance, even calling him a “very stupid man” at one point.

KY sheriff vowed to defy gun laws because 2nd Amendment is ‘like the Bible’

By David Edwards

Jackson County Sheriff Denny Peyman speaks to Fox News

A Kentucky sheriff who refused to enforce any new gun laws that he deemed unconstitutional says that the Second Amendment is “like the Bible” because “you either believe it or you don’t.”

In a recent interview with The Lexington Herald-Leader, Jackson County Sheriff Denny Peyman said that he had a “moral obligation” to defy any new executive orders from President Barack Obama or laws passed by Congress if they restricted the Constitutional right to bear arms.

“I swore an oath to the Constitution,” Peyman explained to Fox News host Greta Van Susteren on Monday. “And in the Constitution is the Second Amendment and that’s what this country is based upon. How can I rightfully in my own mind and in my heart come in and take guns away from people when that is their protection?”

Susteren asked the sheriff, who is a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), how gun laws should be changed to prevent another mass shooting like the one that killed 20 children in Newtown, Connecticut.

“If you take out part — it’s kind of like the Bible — either you believe it or you don’t believe it,” he insisted. “The Constitution, either you believe it or you don’t. Either you live by it or you don’t.”

“If the people in the theater [in Aurora, Colorado], if there had been somebody in there or several people in there with a firearm, how many people would have got shot? In the school, how many people would have got shot?”

What government fears most: blacks and whites united with guns

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 by: Jon Rappoport

government(NaturalNews) In 1969, William Kunstler, the famous radical-left lawyer, gave a speech in Oakland, California, to the black community. In his concluding remarks, he reminded the audience that the Black Panther Party for Self Defense was the full name of the Panthers.

Kunstler, speaking “both as a lawyer and a human being,” affirmed the legality of armed self-defense against brutal actions by the white police.

“It is most important to secure your community…If you have the power to defend yourself by weapons that are legal…what I’m advising here is perfectly legal…you must stand ready…to protect yourself…your lives…your property…”

Why is that need for self-defense any different from, say, white ranchers living in border states where Mexican drug gangs are setting up powerful outposts on American soil?

The government wants no one to make the connection, to see the common cause.

No one must believe that, when citizens, black or white or Latino or Asian, are under threat from criminals of ANY skin color, they have the right to armed self-defense.

If all Americans perceived this common need, regardless of circumstances or the skin-tone of the particular criminals who constitute a threat, then all people would stand together.

Here are the words of conservative author, Ann Coulter, who is reviled by the progressive Left. She is writing about Robert Williams, a black man who understood the value and role of guns.

“A World War II Marine veteran, Williams returned home to Monroe, N.C., to find the [Ku Klux] Klan riding high — beating, lynching and murdering blacks at will. No one would join the NAACP for fear of Klan reprisals. Williams became president of the local chapter and increased membership from six to more than 200.

“But it was not until he got a charter from the NRA in 1957 and founded the Black Armed Guard that the Klan got their comeuppance in Monroe.

“Williams’ repeated thwarting of violent Klan attacks is described in his stirring book, ‘Negroes With Guns.’ In one crucial battle, the Klan sieged the home of a black physician and his wife, but Williams and his Black Armed Guard stood sentry and repelled the larger, cowardly force. And that was the end of it.

“As the Klan found out, it’s not so much fun when the rabbit’s got the gun.

“…In the preface to ‘Negroes With Guns,’ Williams writes: ‘I have asserted the right of Negroes to meet the violence of the Ku Klux Klan by armed self-defense — and have acted on it. It has always been an accepted right of Americans, as the history of our Western states proves, that where the law is unable, or unwilling, to enforce order, the citizens can, and must act in self-defense against lawless violence.'”

Williams had no problem linking the rights of honorable armed white people and honorable armed black people.

All this sets the stage for understanding the true agenda of the federal government:

use any and all means to convince black, white, and Latino communities that their needs for self-defense are separate and even opposed;

use any and all means to set white, black, and Latino communities against each other;

use any and all means to create and sustain and expand a black, white, and Latino underclass, whose vast dependence on government precludes the awareness that self-sufficient armed defense against criminals is good and right. Instead, all public safety must hinge on government law-enforcement personnel.

With these agenda items in place, the government then proceeds to capitalize on (or covertly launch) horrific gun murders that arouse the sentiment of the controlled press and public against gun ownership.

The government is banking on the effectiveness of its program. No matter who defends himself against criminals, when different skin colors are involved, the incident will be played up as race against race, and never as an armed citizen stopping a criminal.

As part of of this agenda, white people must always perceive a black person with a gun as a threat, and vice versa.

White people must never believe there is a black person with a gun who wants to defend himself against a black criminal.

Black people must never believe there is a white person with a gun who wants to defend himself against a white criminal.

Blacks, whites, and Latinos must never stand together, armed.

TX gun classes reporting influx of teachers

TX teachers going to gun classes

The push to provide firearms training to teachers has taken hold in Texas, where, as NBC News reported on Tuesday, hundreds of instructors are hitting the firing ranges.

“We’ve had over 300 [teachers], and today adds up to 400 now,” said Johnny Flynn, head instructor at Big Iron Concealed Handgun Training, in Katy, Texas. “It kinda grew faster and quicker than I ever dreamed it would grow.”

KXAS-TV reported on Monday that the state’s lieutenant governor, David Dewhurst (R) will ask the state senate to consider using public funding to pay for schools to send employees to similar courses.

State law allows teachers with concealed handgun permits to bring them to campus if granted permission by their district superintendents. Josh Felker, who teaches a course of his own in San Antonio, told Reuters some educators are prepared to defy that law, too.

“They are upset at what happened, and no one is going to hurt their kids,” said Felker, who, like Flynn, waived the $85 training fee for teachers in his course. “One teacher said flat out, ‘I don’t care if the law changes or not, I’m going to take it to school.’ Most of them just want to protect their kids.”

When Flynn asked one recent group of trainees how many of them were teachers or school personnel, more than half the people in the room raised their hands.

“Y’all are the first line of defense for stuff like Columbine, and what happened in Connecticut,” he said.

No White House comment on NRA game

Posted by Rachel Weiner on January 15, 2013 at 1:49 pm

Washington Post

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Tuesday that he has not discussed a new NRA game with the president.

The iPhone and iPad app “NRA: Practice Range,” released Sunday, has caused controversy because of its release close to a month after the Sandy Hook shootings. The first-person shooter game is labeled appropriate for users aged four and older.

In the game, players can use a variety of guns, including assault weapons. But the targets are all dummies or discs, not living creatures. In between rounds, gun safety tips are featured.

In his fiery press conference responding to the Newtown, Conn. massacre, NRA President Wayne LaPierre blamed violent video games in part for what he described as an increasingly violent culture.

Gun group chief says industry didn’t cause Newtown

By Ken Ritter on January 15, 2013

Bloomberg Businessweek

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A trade show expected to draw tens of thousands of gun enthusiasts and manufacturers opened on the Las Vegas Strip Tuesday with the head of an industry group preparing to tell convention-goers they weren’t to blame for the recent mass shooting at a Connecticut elementary school.

“We are not the evildoers,” National Shooting Sports Foundation chief Steve Sanetti said in remarks scheduled to be delivered Tuesday evening. “You didn’t cause the monstrous crime in Newtown and neither did we.”

The start of the annual Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show at the sprawling Sands Expo Convention Center comes amid a national debate on gun control following last month’s shooting, which left 20 children and six adults at the school dead.

President Barack Obama was expected to receive recommendations Tuesday from Vice President Joe Biden, who in recent weeks has led a task force studying methods to curb gun violence.

Also, New York state lawmakers passed the toughest gun control law in the nation and were daring other states to do the same.

In his state-of-the-industry speech, Sanetti characterized weapons manufacturers, sellers and buyers as “misunderstood.”

“Ours is a responsible industry that manufactures and sells lawful products to law-abiding citizens, who in turn exercise their constitutional right to own, use and enjoy firearms safely and responsibly for lawful purposes,” he said.

Sanetti’s remarks drew criticism from gun control advocates who said promoting and selling military-style assault rifles is the growth model for an industry that the foundation said is coming off a profitable $4.1 billion year.

Gun sales soar in US amid fear of tougher laws

Tue Jan 15, 2013 6:49PM GMT
Gun and ammunition sales in the US have spiked over the past two weeks as people rush to stock up arsenals before any restrictions that might be imposed, Press TV reports.

As impending restrictions on gun sales are spurring fear among some gun owners that they won’t have easy access to weaponry, leading liberal lawmakers plead for stores to curb gun sales.

“I’m urging our major gun retailers in America; the Walmart and the Sports Authority, to suspend sales of modern assault-style weapons until the Congress is able to fully consider and vote on legislation to curb gun violence,” said US Senator Chuck Schumer.

In a series of meetings with gun policy stakeholders, including the National Rifle Association (NRA), US Vice President Joe Biden offered a comprehensive package of proposals on preventing gun violence in the country.

NRA officials left the talks disenchanted and challenged negotiations with the Vice President on gun policy. Biden is to offer its proposals to President Barack Obama on Tuesday.

“The National Rifle Association is one of the most useless and reactionary groups in America,” said US domestic policy analyst Brent Budowsky.

“They offered the President nothing. They don’t want to give up any guns. They want people running around with machine guns and semi-automatic weapons.”

Following the Newtown shooting spree, President Obama appointed Biden to lead an effort to find proposals “to reduce the epidemic of gun violence.” The president also pledged to present the proposals to Congress.

Biden’s suggestions include universal background checks and limits on high capacity clips like the one used in the Sandy Hook shooting spree, which left 20 children and six adults dead on December 14, 2012.

Rahm Emanuel pushes to end investments in gun manufacturers

Rahm Emanuel, the mayor of Chicago who acted as White House chief of staff until 2010, is hoping to initiate a nationwide campaign of disinvestment from companies that make and sell military-style assault rifles along the lines of the 1980s disinvestment from apartheid South Africa.

Emanuel has instructed the fund managers of the city’s pension reserves to find out how much of the holdings are invested with assault weapons manufacturers and sellers as a first step towards financial withdrawal. Semi-automatic rifles have become a focal point of the debate around gun control in the wake of the Newtown shooting, in which a Bushmaster AR-15 was deployed to kill 20 young school children and six of their teaching staff.

Announcing the move on Monday, Emanuel at first implied that he would encourage disinvestment of city retirement funds from all gun manufacturers and sellers, but later clarified that to refer specifically to those dealing in assault rifles.

It is not clear how substantial any disinvestment would be as the scale of Chicago’s financial holdings in gun companies is not yet known. However, the mayor is clearly hoping that the city will act as an incubator of similar actions across the US.

Amer Ahmad, the city comptroller, told the Chicago Tribune that the mayor was modelling his plan on the anti-apartheid disinvestment campaigns. “We hope that other cities and states start picking this up. This could become a good national movement,” Ahmad said.

Chicago’s interest in tighter gun laws is particularly acute, given that it is suffering one of the worst epidemics of gang-related gun violence in the US. Last year there were 506 homicides, a rise of 16% on the previous year.

Already this year there have been at least 16 violent deaths. The spate of murders are heavily concentrated among black teenagers living in the poor neighbourhoods of Chicago’s South Side.

Harold Pollack, co-director of the University of Chicago’s Crime Lab, which evaluates violence prevention efforts, said that though the city was by no means the most dangerous place in America – as suggested by some sensationalist media coverage – it did have a serious problems with guns on the streets. Chicago police capture every year six times as many illegal guns than New York City, even though it has a much smaller population.

Pollack said that since starting as mayor in 2011 Emanuel had been making sensible moves to combat the violence, though it might take some time before the results are felt. He applauded the mayor’s move to disinvest from assault rifle manufacturers, saying it could change the public conversation.

“We need to ask: when did it become okay to market and encourage the proliferation of such lethal weapons that are so damaging in civil society?” Pollack said.

Emanuel has a patchy record on campaigning for gun controls. As an adviser to Bill Clinton in the White House in 1994, he was part of the team that saw the introduction of a federal ban on assault rifles that lapsed a decade later.

But when he acted as Obama’s chief of staff between 2009 and 2010, Emanuel made an about-turn, keeping any talk of gun controls off the White House agenda, mindful of the damage that might cause to the president’s hopes of re-election in 2012.
