As if its costly genetic tampering with the whole natural world weren’t brazen enough, Monsanto continues to bully and intimidate farmers across the United States, hoping this time to push its agenda through the highest court in the justice system.
The Supreme Court agreed last week to hear an appeal regarding Monsanto’s case against Knox County, Indiana soybean farmer Vernon Hugh Bowman. Monsanto has pursued a lawsuit against the 74-year-old claiming Bowman made unauthorized use of its patent-protected Roundup Ready seeds. Bowman reportedly purchased additional, cheaper seed from a local grain elevator and used it to plant a late-season crop. He repeated this activity over a period of eight years beginning in 1999, continually saving and planting the new seeds generated by the commodity elevator crop.
Though Bowman was saving seeds from only the elevator crop, nature was doing what nature does best. With the Monsanto variety in the 90-percent majority over the other crop on Bowman’s 299-acre farm, it was only a matter of time before contamination occurred. When it did, and Monsanto learned of Bowman’s seed harvesting activities, they sent their well-funded attorneys after him for patent infringement.
The story of seed has become one of loss, control, dependence and debt. It’s been written by those who want to make vast profit from our food system, no matter what the true cost. It’s time to change the story.
Seeds of Freedom charts the story of seed from its roots at the heart of traditional, diversity rich farming systems across the world, to being transformed into a powerful commodity, used to monopolise the global food system. The film highlights the extent to which the industrial agricultural system, and genetically modified (GM) seeds in particular, has impacted on the enormous agro -biodiversity evolved by farmers and communities around the world, since the beginning of agriculture.
(NaturalNews) The H5N1 avian flu virus, which ministers of health propaganda around the world have been using for years to generate overblown panic and fear, is the subject of a new biotechnology project involving genetically-modified (GM) chickens. According to the U.K.’s Guardian, genetic manipulators have developed a transgenic variety of chicken that they claim is unable to transmit avian flu to other birds, even after contracting it themselves. For their work, Laurence Tiley, a molecular virologist at the University of Cambridge in the U.K., and his colleagues injected a short-hairpin RNA gene into chicken embryos that artificially produces what the Guardian describes as a “decoy” molecule in the birds’ cells. This decoy molecule is then picked up by the bird flu virus, which incorporates it, rather than its own genetic material, into the virus’ genetic line, preventing it from replicating and spreading.
In tests, birds modified with the decoy molecule were fully capable of contracting H5N1 avian flu, but they were unable to spread it to other birds, including other GM birds. Infected non-GM birds, on the other hand, were fully able to spread the disease as they normally would, which the scientists claimed was evidence that their experiment was a success.
You can read an abstract of the study, which was published in the journal Science, here:
Like all other GM foods and animals, the GM chickens developed for the study have yet to undergo any long-term safety studies, which means there is no indication that they are in any way safe for human consumption. Even the Frankenbirds’ creators admit that their science experiment is only intended for research purposes, and not for human consumption.
It is the unintended consequences of such research that are the most concerning; however, as much of the scientific community is now literally obsessed with genetically-altering every plant, food crop, animal, and even human being it can get its hands on. There is nothing sacred, in other words, when it comes to leaving things alone in their natural form — every living being and organism is now considered to be “flawed” and in need of genetic correction.
The answers to flu prevention are right in front of us, and every single one of them exists in nature. Vitamin D, medicinal mushrooms, aloe vera, garlic, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano — these are just a few of the many natural compounds that possess powerful immune-boosting, flu-fighting capabilities. Why are researchers not spending more time investigating these natural solutions to disease rather than tampering with the blueprints of life at every chance they get?

Industries are all about making more money, at any cost.
If they can develop something now that will save money and produce more down the road, they will—often tossing ethical concerns to the side.
Need proof? Just look at Big Pharma’s sales of harmful drugs, their cycle of side effects and treatments, or even how they want to make genetically modified plants to produce pharmaceutical drugs.
Need more proof? Look at Monsanto and environmentally destructive herbicides. The latest movement towards increased production at a lesser cost comes in the form of genetically modified trees.
Genetically modified trees are being developed in the U.S. and around the world.
A new paper, circulated at outside of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and the Convention on Biological Diversity cautions that GM tree research is being done without much oversight and with limited information.
As reported on the Science and Development Network, the industries pushing this research are those that can serve to make money off of the GMO trees.
They are testing their genetic alterations in the lab with poplars, pines, acacias, and eucalyptus trees just to name a few.
So far, the U.S. has the most patents with 53% and Brazil follows close behind. In all, 21 countries are working on the GMO trees. So, what are they trying to do?
From an industrial standpoint, they are looking to “perfect” the trees—make them more useful and more valuable, not recognizing the value of trees goes far beyond their ability to make nice paper or fancy hardwood floors.
They are working on developing wood with less lignin, for instance, which will make it easier to process.
They are also working to develop trees that are more pest-resistant, obviously ignoring the issues of GMO crops and their damage to the delicate natural balance.
Isis Alvarez, of the Global Forest Coalition, cautions that these researchers are being hasty in their projects.
She says they are pushing the industry to “escalate without any consideration to the environmental or social impacts, and with little or no oversight or monitoring from governments”.
One has to wonder if they’ve thought ahead, to what would happen, for instance, if the trees were completely pest resistant. What would happen to the pests who no longer had wood for homes and food?
When they died off, what would happen to the birds who depend on them for their own food—and so on.
Likely, the corporations which are no doubt behind the research are concerned with one thing and one thing only—their bottom line.

A report from the August 17 edition of the American Association for the Advance of Science’s journal Science titled, “Negative Report on GM Crops Shakes Government’s Food Agenda,” revealed that an Indian high-profile parliamentary panel, only a week before, recommended that GM crop “field trails under any garb should be discontinued forthwith,” and that further GM agricultural research should “only be done under strict containment.”[i]
Moreover, in a press conference after the report’s release, the panel’s chair, Basudeb Acharia, said in no uncertain terms: “India should not go in for GM food crops.”
According to the Science article’s author, Pallava Bagla, the panel’s recommendation is being regarded by some “as the death knell of the development of genetically modified food crops in India.” Dissenting interests, such as India’s chief of crop research, Swapan Dutta, a rice geneticist and deputy director at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, responded to the report by suggesting that if implemented, the panel’s recommendations would paralyze research and threaten India’s food security, and “hope for GM research in India is lost.”
The Indian government has been sending mixed signals about its commitment to agricultural GM technology. For instance, in 2002 the government approved Bt-toxin carrying cotton as the first GM commercial crop in India. Today, there are over 1100 Bt varieties of GM cotton, accounting for 93% of all the cotton sown in India. The prime minister of India himself, Manmohan Singh, voiced his support for GM crops in a recent interview with Science (24 Feb, p. 907), stating: “In due course of time,” he said “we must make use of genetic engineering technologies to increase the productivity of our agriculture.”
But, as the Science article points out, Singh’s own ministers are not toeing the party line. For instance, in 2010, former environment minister Jairam Ramesh imposed a moratorium on the commercialization of Bt brinjal, a traditional Indian eggplant, even after the ministry’s scientific advisory panel had given the GM variety approval.
Moreover, GM crop researchers in India were already having problems since 2011, because state governments refused to issue certificates that allow GM crop field trials to commence. Also, in the June issue of Science, environmental minister Jayanthi Natarajan was quoted as saying: “genetically modified foods have no place in ensuring India’s food security.”
While the primary justification within Indian government for supporting GM agriculture is based on the fact that it has increased production of economically important products such as cotton, which skyrocketed from .02 million hectares in 2002 to 9.33 million hectares in 2011, the latest panel’s decision was influenced by the fact that all Bt cotton grown commercially in India is derived from technology sold by the multinational food giant Monsanto, who by owning and controlling the seeds has seriously compromised India’s food sovereignty and security.
It has been estimated that 70% of India’s 1.2 billion people are farmers who have no alternative but to buy Bt cotton seed from Monsanto. Also, Monsanto relationship to India farmers is already tenuous considering it was accused of biopiracy earlier this year by India’s National Biodiversity Authority.[ii] The panel also stated “there is a connection between Bt cotton and farmer’s suicides,” as thousands of indebted farmers in India’s cotton producing regions have committed suicide in a desperate attempt to rid themselves and their families of debt.
The next step is for government ministries to digest the panel’s report and to decide if the report’s recommendations, which carry political weight but are not mandatory, will be implemented. The Science article concluded:
If the government doesn’t make a forceful case for GM crops, Bhan says, there may be no alternative but to ‘stop all use of GM crop technology till it has been totally made in India.’ And if Monsanto becomes ‘a nuisance,’ he added, ‘it can be kicked out.’ [emphasis added]

The battle against genetically modified organisms being secretly engineered into our foods now has only one possible outcome:
Victory for the People… and defeat of the corporate quack scientists and the outrageously dishonest and sinister biotech industry that has shoved GMO down our throats for a decade or more.
In terms of victory, I’m not just talking about Proposition 37, although that could very well be a turning point that accelerates the consumer victory.
But even if Proposition 37 doesn’t pass, the end of the line for hidden GMOs in our food is fast approaching.
The word is out. People are getting informed. There’s absolutely no going back to the era of “GMO ignorance,” and the truth about GMOs causing cancer, infertility, organ damage and other deadly health problems is circulating everywhere.
Even Whole Foods is now teaching its own employees more details about GMO so that they can better answer customer’s questions about GMO.
GMO labeling laws are in the planning stages in several states across the country, and Rep. Dennis Kucinich has already introduced a national GMO labeling law called the Genetically Engineered Food Safety Act, or H.R. 6635.
Monsanto is on the run from activists. Honest doctors and scientists everywhere are waking up and speaking out against GMO.
Food retailers like Green PolkaDot Box have already abandoned GMO and they now run an online store that’s virtually free of all genetically modified products.
And what’s really fascinating is that both organics-loving progressives and liberty-loving conservatives are loudly speaking out against GMOs for all the same reasons!
Progressives, conservatives, libertarians… everybody wants to stop foods from being secretly formulated with deadly GMO
Our victory against the scourge of GMO is now inevitable. We have passed the tipping point of consumer awareness that Jeffrey Smith has long been advocating.
The “No on 37″ campaign can only resort to lies now. They can’t debate the facts on GMO. Their dishonest advertisements in California dare not even mention the term “genetic engineering!”
They have desperately and pathetically turned to a campaign of obfuscation and confusion because they simply have no defense against a commonsense GMO labeling law.
GMOs should be labeled just like fats, sugars, proteins, calories and ingredients. It’s basic common sense… and everybody knows it.
High sales of GMO based entirely on ignorance
GMOs are an industry based entirely on ignorance. GMOs are the only product whose retail success is based entirely on the fact that consumers had no idea they were buying them.
GMOs are the only products that people ACCIDENTALLY purchase!
Think about it:
• Nobody actively goes to the grocery store and seeks out foods with GMOs in them.
• No food company declares “Now, made with GMO!” on the label of any product they make.
• No grocery store advertises, “We sell GMO in our store!”
GMOs are only purchased accidentally by consumers. Nobody buys them on purpose.
They buy them out of ignorance. And when that ignorance is transformed into knowledge, nobody wants to eat GMO!
Especially not when it’s killing the rats and giving them massive cancer tumors like the ones shown here:
Oh, and by the way, the top ten companies funneling money into the campaign to defeat Proposition 37, the GMO labeling law, are all pesticide manufacturers! Click here to see the list for yourself.
Awareness is the solution; Resistance is victory
Because GMOs only succeed through consumer ignorance, education is the most effective solution to stopping GMO.
Once people become aware of the truth about genetically engineered ingredients, the scam is over. The deception comes to an abrupt end. The era of eating poison in your breakfast cereal collapses.
That’s why the single most important thing you can do right now to help defeat Monsanto and the GMO / biotech industry is spread the word about GMO.
Tell everyone you know! And keep reminding them until they truly get it.
GMOs are poison! That’s why they kill rats and cause horrifying cancer tumors, infertility, organ damage and premature death.
Those are scientific statements, not merely opinions or emotional reactions. This is really happening. There really is poison in the food.
Action items to help defeat GMO
If you’re looking for other things you can do to join in this victory against poisonous genetically engineered foods, here are some action items:
• Visit the GMO article page on Natural News. This page is updated each time we publish a new article on GMO.
• Join in the national phone bank to call CA registered voters and help educate them about GMOs and Proposition 37.
• Make a donation to the YES on 37 campaign in California.
• Watch the highly informative Genetic Roulette Movie produced by Jeffrey Smith.
• Most importantly, stop buying GMOs! This means stop buying all non-organic groceries containing corn, soy, canola or cottonseed oil. Look for USDA Organic, because organic foods are not allowed to be made with GMO.
Share this article, too, because this message of ultimate victory needs to be heard across the industry. We need to stay on this issue and see it through, friends. We can win this!

There is a battle being waged for your mind. To the victor comes influence over your beliefs, you purchase decisions, and even your values. On one side of the battlefield are the so-called ‘scientific’ poisoners, who are really just proxy scientists and propagandists promoting corporate interests. These ‘scientists’ want to convince you that there’s no such thing as a dangerous pesticide. That GMOs are harmless, in fact healthful. That autism isn’t caused by any possibly related to chemical exposure, and that vaccines are a scientific gift to humanity, without which we would have all died from infectious disease.
There is no chemical the scientific poisoners do not think is safe to put on your skin or ingest into your body. Hydrofluosilicic acid — also mistakenly called “fluoride” — is perfectly safe to drink, they say. Chemotherapy is good for you and doesn’t make your hair fall out or damage your kidneys. Psychiatric drugs are more important than vitamins. Pharmaceuticals should be your nutrition! And your immune system is incomplete without vaccine intervention at the tip of a needle.
This “cult of scientism” believes that nature is a failure. Your body is a failure. That nothing good happens without chemical intervention. Crops won’t grow unless they’re GMO. The world will starve without bt insecticides being engineered into the kernels of corn. Humans would be extinct if not for vaccines and pharmaceuticals. There is no God. Instead, we should worship Monsanto, Dupont, Dow Chemical, Merck, Pfizer, and all the other corporate giants that produce the chemicals we’re supposed to consume.
The “naturalists” seek to protect life
On the other side of this battleground are the naturalists. The protectors of life. People who have a home garden and know the value of open-pollinated seeds. People who eat real food, organic food, grown without toxic chemical pesticides, fungicides and synthetic fertilizer.
These people recognize the wisdom of nature; the self-healing potential of the human body; the value of nutrition; and the importance of protecting the environment in the interests of sustaining life on our planet. To the naturalists, playing God with seeds is a crime against nature. Injecting toddlers with mercury preservatives is a violation of basic human rights. Dumping toxic fluoride chemicals into the public water supply is a violation of not just law, but of the very principles of scientific medicine.
The naturalists want to stop the poisoning of the planet, of our children, of the oceans and the air. They want GMOs labeled on foods. They want the choice to opt out of dangerous experimental vaccines, none of which have ever been proven in randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies.
The debate as to whether or not genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are causing serious health issues like infertility and even death is proclaimed as ‘heated’ and ‘inconclusive’ by the mainstream media, but even the very scientists working behind the scenes appear to acknowledge the very reality of their effects. In one such communication I received from a very angry biotech scientist who proclaimed it was ‘awesome’ if GMOs were causing mass infertility and death, it becomes tragically clear that even many of the scientists working in the biotech field know full well that GMOs are causing significant bouts of disease across the globe.
Independently verified by both our team and a separate team of experts, this biotech scientist who works for a well-known firm was either apathetic or ignorant to ways in which you can conceal your identity through more advanced methods than what he utilized. Using profanity and a few words in all capital letters, it’s easy to see just how outraged this scientist is that in my article I deemed those who create GMOs and unleash them on the public without proper warning to be ‘traitors to humanity’. It appears he must have also read the comment section, where readers voiced their own (oftentimes stronger) opinions on these scientists.
In the email, the biotech scientist known as ‘Ed’ explains how he thinks it’s absolutely ‘awesome’ that GMOs are contributing to infertility, as he believes the world is overpopulated. He also attacks me personally for my work on warning the public over the dangers of GMOs (particularly the latest news over the research linking GMOs to organ failure and tumor development). As of right now we have not released the full name of ‘Ed’ nor his organization, but we may in the future after considering the legal concerns.
I am no traitor against humanity. If this **** causes infertility… Awesome!!
The world is over-populated, and people need to stop having children. This is one of earth’s largest problems.
If the earth wasn’t overpopulated, things like growth hormones wouldn’t EXIST.
The reason they do, is that the earth cannot produce enough food on its own to feed us all.
This is why GMO is actually saving the planet.
So **** you and your ********. I am doing humanity a ******* FAVOR!!!
A REAL ‘traitor to humanity’
