Although reps from Facebook have claimed it’s only technologically possible, and Google law aficionados have pointed out that this is solely for legal purposes and blah, blah, blah, the app’s “permissions” page tells you exactly what it’s capable of, and what it plans to do with your phone:

proxy.storify.comThat’s right, my friends…Without your “confirmation” (aka, without you doing anything), it can “record audio at any time” and “use the camera at any time”. Sounds like the NSA’s wet dream.

By clicking the “ok” button on this app, you are basically handing over the same power that the DHS and local “fusion centers” have been drooling to get their hands on for years. This is you letting them completely bypass wiretapping laws for the sake of being “in touch” with your friends and family.

Is it really worth it? Maybe for some, but for me and my family, our Androids are staying Facebook-free from now on.
