Israelis who speak a second language to represent Israel on ‘problematic’ Websites in new Absorption Ministry program.

January 14, 2012

The Immigrant Absorption Ministry announced on Sunday it was setting up an “army of bloggers,” to be made up of Israelis who speak a second language, to represent Israel in “anti-Zionist blogs” in English, French, Spanish and German.

The program’s first volunteer was Sandrine Pitousi, 31, from Kfar Maimon, situated five kilometers from Gaza.

“I heard about the project over the radio and decided to join because I’m living in the middle of the conflict,” she said.

Before hanging up the phone prematurely following a Color Red rocket alert, Pitousi, who immigrated to Israel from France in 1993, said she had some experience with public relations from managing a production company.

Revolution or WWIII? The Petrodollar Scam

Dave Hodges, Contributor
Activist Post

When the present gun control dance concludes, America could soon be doing a waltz with a different partner, World War III, as the globalists completely condition us to be absolutely submissive to their desires. If we surrender our guns and capitulate to the globalists, tens of millions of Americans will die from starvation, targeted genocide and world war, if history truly repeats itself.

There is, however, another alternative, we could decide to enter into the tried-and-true ”three stage plan” of revolution. These two bipolar choices do not provide America with much of a middle ground. As this article will demonstrate, our future will be one alternative or the other. You may be wondering if this potential revolution will be violent? My answer to that question is that it depends of the actions of the bankers who have hijacked our government.

The Globalist Plan

America is so focused on the gun control issue, that we are failing to see the end game, which could lead us to not prepare accordingly. History shows that any nation that permits gun confiscation, in any form, invites genocide. However, the Second Amendment debate is a preliminary round to the world-wide conflict that will follow gun confiscation and the imposition of martial law.

1 Gun Confiscation The false flag attacks on America’s schools are being used as a pretext to seize the guns. And why does Obama and his puppetiers so desperately want our guns? Because America would never accept the brutal form of martial law and selective genocide which will be needed to subjugate the country and bend it to the will of the globalists.

2 Martial Law This is why DHS has ordered 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. They know that at least some of us will not willingly submit to the coming conscription and the seizure of our assets. This is also why Obama signed into the law the NDAA so he could eliminate the leadership of the coming resistance movements without the negative attention and publicity of a trial. I believe step two will consist of house-to-house gun confiscation and the rounding up of perceived dissidents — the new terrorists if you will.

3 World War III will be staged following a series of false flag attacks in order to save the Petrodollar. This will be described in the following paragraphs.

As part of this three-stage attack upon America, our country will be victimized by a series of involuntary conscriptions into either the military or a civilian labor brigade. Further, in scenes right out of the movie, The Hunger Games, the government plans to confiscate any of your valuable resources such as stored food, water, and of course, guns and ammunition. I do not need a crystal ball to make this prediction because Obama has already signaled his intentions as witnessed by the Obama issuance of the National Resources Preparedness Executive Order. This EO gives Obama unlimited power to control virtually every resource and impose virtual slavery upon any and all Americans. Read the Executive Order; it is eye opening, as it is more draconian than anything ever conceived by the East German Stasi.

Why is Obama so hellbent on subjugating the American public? Simple: the bread and butter of the Federal Reserve, the Petrodollar, is being seriously threatened by Russia, China, India and Iran.

The Petrodollar Replaced the Gold Standard

The United States has debt, crushing debt, which makes the former Weimar Republic look solvent by comparison. Unfortunately, the United States abandoned the gold standard a long time ago. What then keeps our economy from degenerating into a trading and bartering society resulting from a collapsed dollar?

The United States’ good economic fortune is due solely to the fact that world must use the dollar, the Petrodollar if you will, in order to make their nation’s individual oil purchases and this provides the only source of backing for the U.S. dollar that the Federal Reserve requires in order to somewhat sustain our back-breaking debt that the banker-occupied United States government has passed along to the American taxpayer in the form of bailouts.

Despite the economic pain associated with the enormous debt caused by the Wall Street contrived Ponzi schemes associated with the now infamous derivatives, America’s economy has proven to be very resilient.

However, if the artificial global dollar demand, made possible by the Petrodollar system, were ever to crumble, our days of economic dominance would abruptly end and the resulting economic chaos would be followed by the need to impose martial law on a starving public. Again, tens of millions of Americans will die in this scenario.

The Communist Nations Are Challenging the Dominance of the Petrodollar

Unfortunately for every man, woman and child in America, that day of economic reckoning is quickly approaching. China has commenced buying Iranian oil in gold. India has followed suit, as have the Russians. The days of the Petrodollar are numbered and, therefore, so is the only source of backing of our dollar. Have you and your family prepared for the collapse of the dollar and ultimately the collapse of society?

Like most Americans who have awakened from their slumber, I came to realize that the private Federal Reserve is responsible for most of the evil perpetrated in the world, and I personally loathe the organization. It is hard not to cheer the fact that the days of Federal Reserve Board dominance may be coming to an abrupt end. Yet, I would advise against popping the corks on the champagne bottles, because, like it or not, America’s economic fortunes are tied to the health of the dollar and our precious dollar has come down with a terminal economic case of the Asian flu. If the Federal Reserve crashes and burns, so will everything that you have ever worked for. If the Federal Reserve collapses over this impending crisis, the resulting economic holocaust will make the United States unrecognizable within a very short time and your personal fortunes will sink right along with these notorious robber barons who are feverishly involved in stealing as many home mortgages as possible through schemes like the robosigners of MERS.

The Federal Reserve, the same people who perpetrated the MERS fraud, is also involved in buying up mortgage backed securities in an attempt to garner the lion’s share of the housing industry. And if you didn’t hear; the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals made it legal for the banks to steal your deposits. Don’t think for a moment that these events are not contrived by the bankers to get as much as they can, of the public’s assets, in as short amount of time as possible in this time of crisis. The banksters clearly know what is coming and they are in the process of stealing your assets in order to soften the blow of a collapsing dollar so that their “Golden Parachute” will be awarded to them courtesy of your hard-earned assets.

Surely, there must be something that can be done to avert this coming train wreck? Can’t the United States simply employ economic sanctions and force Iran to its knees? Without the cooperation of Russia, China and India, economic sanctions and an oil embargo will not be effective and subsequently, the United States cannot force Iranians back to the negotiating table over the oil issue. The situation is somewhat reminiscent with happened in the lead up to the 2003 Gulf War when Iraq tried its hand at circumventing the Petrodollar system with under-the-table deals with France and Germany in which the Euro would be used to purchase oil. Saddam Hussein underestimated the Federal Reserve Board’s reach and paid for this miscalculation with his life because he did not have the support of powerful military allies. Iran is quite a different matter as they have friends, very dangerous friends who mean America harm.

If the United States seeks to reverse the trend which seeks the abandonment of the Petrodollar system, war seems to be the only option left to the bankers. Logic would seem to dictate that the military option will be employed and, therefore, it should be a simple matter to ratchet up the rhetoric and seize the Iranian oil fields and force capitulation.

Subsequently, shouldn’t the United States dust off an old familiar game plan and create a false flag event, similar to the Gulf of Tonkin? Undoubtedly, this is what the Federal Reserve desires in a last ditch effort to save the Petrodollar system. However, an act of war needs a pretext.

Therefore, we can count on the fact that a series of false flag attacks will be utilized by Federal Reserve friends at the CIA in order to justify the coming war with Iran. I predict that we will see previously unimaginable false flag attacks which will be falsely pinned on Iranian-based terrorism. This is when the National Defense Resources Preparedness Executive Order comes into play and Obama will conscript people and resources in a last ditch effort to save the Petrodollar in World War III.

More Details on the Globalist Plan Unveiled

Interestingly, the globalists have left clues which clearly signal their intentions, as well as a fair amount of their game plan. In order to inflict maximum casualties for the desired emotional reaction from the American people, namely fear and submission, malls and sports stadiums are conspicuously effective targets for imaginary terrorists, especially when one considers that the Simon Property Group, the largest owner of malls in North America, as well as all of the professional sports leagues have just entered into a “See Something, Say Something” partnership with the Department of Homeland Security. When one considers the massive purchase made by DHS of 7.5 million pounds of ammonium nitrate, which was used to blow up the Oklahoma City Federal Building, it does not take much foresight or skill in dot connecting to see where this scenario is heading. For the unaware, the false flag strategy has already become operational, as Libyan Ambassador Stevens’ death was merely the first of these false flag attacks which will be used to chart a course for war against Iran and its neighbor, Syria. And why is Syria being destabilized? Because it is the doorway which is needed to attack Russia with medium- and long-range weapons.

Chinese President Hu

Creating the pretext for fighting a war, and then successfully selling the American public on the need to fight the war, is one thing. However, winning the war, is quite another. How serious are the Chinese and Russians at standing up to the imperialistic United States? Considering that both Chinese President Hu and Major General Zhang Zhaozhong have threatened the United States with nuclear war if they invade either Iran or Syria. The prudent opinion says that this is the newest version of the “Axis of Evil’s” line in the sand.

China, India and Russia have pinned their economic futures on the fact that they are divorcing themselves from the debt-ridden dollar and are charting a new economic course with gold as the baseline. They are not going to back down.

Legitimate Threats of War

To put muscle behind the collective defiance to the Petrodollar system, China brags that it can place 100 million men on the battlefield. Russia maintains over 1300 nuclear missiles and India joined the nuclear weapons fraternity a long time ago. As you read these words, you may be wondering if the conflict would escalate into a nuclear confrontation. I have a hard time imagining a situation in which the losing side would not resort to the use of tactical nuclear weapons as a best case scenario. Ask yourself, if your country was faced with economic and military obliteration at the prospect of losing World War III, what would the losing side gain by keeping their nuclear missiles sitting quietly in their respective bunkers?

The Federal Reserve Is Going For Broke

Is the Federal Reserve controlled United States government really insane enough to launch such a dangerous and potentially catastrophic war? The better question is, what do they have to lose? In the past, the Fed has created fortunes through OPM, other people’s money. They will employ the same strategy in WWW III, as the Federal Reserve will prosecute this war with your money and risk your adult children to carry out their last ditch fanatical mission designed to save the Federal Reserve.

Formerly, India was purchasing 12 billion dollars per year for the privilege to purchase oil and we loved India all the way to the bank. Unfortunately, India has joined the revolt against the Petrodollar by starting to buy Iran’s oil with gold. And the situation has even worsened as it appears that China has even begun to monetize gold which could spell the end of the fiat currencies in the United States and the EU. The Petrodollar is doomed and so is our way of life unless America can make the Iranians capitulate and stick to the antiquated Petrodollar system.

Must We Sleep With the Devil?

I never thought I would be on the same side of an issue as I am with the Federal Reserve because the alternatives are not pleasant. On one hand, we can enter a dangerous war which threatens our very existence. On the other hand, we face an economic holocaust of epic proportions. And even if we are lucky enough to survive the coming war with our economy intact, the American people face the prospects of runaway inflationary effects of QE3 which has no monetary or time limits.

Of course, we could have developed alternative energy sources for which the world would have been beating a path to our door but that would not have suited the oil-dominated Federal Reserve. There is one other possibility, debt repudiation. Over 90% of the debt of modern sovereign nations is derived from the failed banking scams in which the globalists have coerced national governments to assume their debts inside of their national budgets. Therefore, short of capitulation to the globalists, the simple answer seems to be to repudiate the debt owed to these gangsters consisting of all mortgages, all credit card debts and all student loans. All debts, must be written off and let the Wall Street cards fall where they may. However, since most of this debt is owed to the Federal Reserve dominated Wall Street bankers, debt repudiation will not occur without a full-scale civil war, because the bankers are not going to willingly sacrifice their main cash cow. If the bankers are willing to start a world war, don’t think for a second that they will not initiate a civil war to preserve their bottom line. Therefore, I can only see one answer if we are to avoid this impending disaster, and it is the only sane answer for the quandary in which we find ourselves. Do you know what that one answer consists of? I will get to that one thing, shortly.

Meanwhile, the chess pieces are being placed on the game board in preparation for WWIII.

What Options do the American People Have?

If we, as a country submit to the will of the bankers, tens of millions of us will die. Many think we can change course by changing our elected officials. I wish that were true and I continue to pay lip service to this end. However, I believe, as do many of you do, that this is a fools errand. The second, and the only other option that we have is revolution.

The Three Stages of Every Revolution

Many of us believe that the revolution has already begun. Historians tell us that there are three stages of revolution. The first stage of a revolution, is a war of ideas, an information war. This is what I am trying to accomplish on my website and on my talk show. I see the enemy at the gate while most of my friends and neighbors are sleeping through the attack. We are in a war of words and if we fail to use our words to awaken all of humanity, we are hopelessly lost and the globalists will carve us up for dinner.

It should now make sense to you on why 98% of the media is controlled by business interests, controlled one way or another, by the members of the Federal Reserve. In order to win this fight, we need more people speaking out, making videos and calling MSM talk shows. We especially need to reach the police and the military in order to remind them of their constitutional duty to protect the people against a tyrannical government.

Stage two of a revolution consists of civil disobedience or nonviolent resistance. Thanks to Obama, he has given Americans the perfect pretext to begin to resist our criminally controlled government. No matter what gun control laws that Obama brings to the American people, all of us have a constitutional duty to disobey these unlawful policies. If this does not stem the tide of tyranny sweeping the country, then withhold your money. Stop paying taxes as much as possible. Do not shop in the corporate chain stores controlled by Federal Reserve members such as Walmart or any other well-known entity. Shop local and begin to trade and barter with your neighbors and friends. Buy gold and silver and get out of the corrupt Petrodollar as much as possible. In short, stop feeding the beast. Practiced en masse, these financial practices are often enough to bring a criminal government to its knees. However, if stage two does not bring the criminal banksters to their knees, stage three is unavoidable.

Stage three is direct physical confrontation with the powers that be. In this case, our enemies will be comprised of whatever minions that the Federal Reserve can bring to the fight. If Americans have done their due diligence in stage one, the majority of the military and the police will defend the people. However, they must know that the people stand with them. A successful revolution cannot simply jump to stage three without having progressed through the first two stages. The first two stages are the necessary prerequisites needed to build the cohesiveness which is required to break out of the shackles of slavery which have been imposed upon us and upon our minds.

When Stalin’s forces were dragging a third of the Russians out of their homes, it was too late for the Russians to fight back because the ideological base of resistance had not been built. Therefore, it is the duty of every awake American to educate their neighbors, family and friends, whether they want to hear the truth or not. Remember, an armed resistance will not succeed unless there is an attitude of defiance towards tyranny.

If we are going to successfully fight back, it is now or never. Start an email distribution list. Talk to everyone you know. Post short notices about the tyrannical government at your community mailboxes. Be creative, think of new ways to reach your neighbors. And by the way, buy guns and ammunition. Hide some of your guns. If possible, buy the guns off the books so there is not a government list with your name on it. When martial law is imposed, have a predesignated meeting place for you and your family because cell phone communications may be down. Carry three days of needed resources in your cars because you cannot predict when you will experience trouble getting home. Form resource coalitions with your friends and coworkers. Store resources at differing safe houses, in your area, with friends and family that you trust. Turn off your television which only serves to condition people to the plans of the New World Order. Build backup plans for your contingency plans. Start preparing today like your life depends on it, because it does.

Lahore to Islamabad, thousands march against Pakistan govt

Imtiaz Ahmad, Hindustan Times
Lahore, January 14, 2013

Thousands of people turned up on Monday to take part in a rally headed from Lahore towards Islamabad led by Maulana Tahirul Qadri, the head of the Minhajul Quran International, despite predictions by the government that the show would be a flop. Some analysts say that the country may see some significant political changes in the coming days as the long march proceeds to Islamabad.Another 20,000-30,000 people were seen to have assembled already in the heart of Islamabad at the Blue Area where local authorities agreed with the organisers of the event that there would be no violence by the protesters and in exchange their passage would not be blocked.

Security has been put on red alert as the government fears a terrorist attack on the rally. Government officials said that they were also afraid that the participants of the rally would try and storm the parliament building if they were not checked in advance.

Tahirul Qadri, meanwhile, has said that his rally would be peaceful and that there would be no attack on any government functionary. He added, however, that it would be a “dharna” (sit-in) and would continue till the government met its demands.

Qadri also conveyed a few demands to the government, including the sacking of the election commission and postponement of the upcoming elections.

Oracle releases patch for Java after U.S. government warning

By , Monday, January 14, 9:42 AM

Oracle said Sunday that it has released a patchfor its Java software after a bug in the program opened users to malicious hacking.Security researchers first drew attention to the vulnerability last week, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security told its employees to disable the software temporarily in Web browsers.

Cybersecurity experts encouraged consumers to download the patch immediately, but some also continued to raise questions about Java’s security since the program has had numerous problems in recent months. And the fixes Oracle released, experts said, may not go deep enough.

“Note that the vulnerabilities Oracle just patched don’t apply to standalone Java applications or server-side Java installs. They apply only to applets, which run inside your browser,” wrote Sophos security researcher Paul Ducklin in a blog post Sunday.

Ideally, he said, users should disable Java altogether if they don’t need it. He also suggested that users could run one browser with Java enabled and one without.

Iran plans “big-budget” film to “correct” Golden Globe-winning Argo

DEBKAfile January 14, 2013, 6:08 PM (GMT+02:00)

Tehran shot back at Ben Afleck’s award-winning thriller about the CIA’s rescue of 6 American diplomats from Islamist Iran with the announcement that it is planning its own epic film to “correct numerous historical distortions” in Hollywood’s version of the takeover of the US embassy by revolutionary students in 1979 for 444 days. Washington regards this as a crude publicity stunt. Argo is banned in Iran but bootleg copies have a wide circulation.

Tunisia marks two years since its ‘revolution’

Tunisians on Monday marked two years since the flight into exile of veteran dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali amid a climate of uncertainty marked by social tension, a weak economy, threats from jihadists and a political impasse.

President Moncef Marzouki, Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali and parliamentary speaker Mustapha Ben Jaafar saluted the national flag at a modest ceremony in Tunis to mark the occasion.

The three men, who represent the ruling coalition headed by the Islamist party Ennahda, gathered at the Kasbah, next to the government’s headquarters, for the brief ceremony, which was attended by the leaders of the main political parties.

Shortly afterwards, Jebali, the secretary general of Tunisia’s main labour union, Hocine Abassi, and Wided Bouchamaoui, representing Tunisian employers, signed a “social pact” at the National Constituent Assembly.

With unemployment considered a driving factor behind the revolution, and with Tunisia still rocked by repeated protests over poor living conditions, some of them deadly, the signing of the accord was loaded with symbolic importance.

In the city centre, political activists prepared to march down Habib Bourguiba Avenue, the epicentre of the mass uprising that toppled Ben Ali on January 14, 2011 and touched off the Arab Spring.

The demonstrators included supporters and critics of the government, among them hundreds of members of the secular opposition parties and Islamists, and there was a heavy police presence.

Frustration at the government’s failure to address poverty and rising unemployment has mounted since the revolution.

On Sunday, the army deployed in the southern border town of Ben Guerdane after a week of clashes between police and residents demanding development projects to revive the area’s local economy and reduce unemployment.

And the mausoleum in Sidi Bou Said, a prime Tunisian tourism destination, was ravaged by fire at the weekend in a suspected arson attack.

Several shrines dedicated to Muslim saints have been torched or looted in recent months in Tunisia, in acts blamed on hardline Salafists.

Speaking in parliament after the signing ceremony, Jebali, from the ruling Ennahda party, promised to “redouble efforts” to forge a national consensus, and spoke of his desire to enlarge the ruling coalition to overcome the political divisions plaguing the country.

Parliamentary speaker Ben Jaafar, who has strongly criticised the deadlock over the drafting of the new constitution, pledged that the future text would guarantee the goals of the revolution, “establishing a democratic state and the rotation of power”.

But reflecting the failure to reach a consensus so far, no electoral calendar has been drawn up, with the government hoping to hold elections in the summer or autumn of 2013.

Ennahda’s veteran leader Rached Ghannouchi also insisted on dialogue to overcome the political impasse.

“We want to bring all the Tunisian people together, through united political forces capable of dialogue, to agree on a calendar for the big political events, particularly the date of the elections,” he told AFP.

Former premier Beji Caid Essebsi, who heads the secular opposition party Call of Tunisia, expressed concerned about the threat from radical Islamists, speaking at Monday’s ceremony.

“It is the (Tunisian) flag, which represents everyone. But some want to replace it with another, the black flag (of the Salafists). The people must remain vigilant because there is a threat, as we have seen in Sidi Bou Said,” he told AFP.

PA unaware of new EU plan to revive peace talks

LAST UPDATED: 01/14/2013 19:07

The Palestinian Authority said on Monday that it was unaware of a new EU initiative to revive peace talks with Israel.

The PA’s statement came in response to an unconfirmed report according to which the EU is preparing a “detailed political plan” with the goal of resuming peace negotiations between Israel and the PA.

Chief PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat said in response that he was unaware of any EU plan to revive the stalled peace talks. He said that no one has presented the PA leadership with any plan.

Erekat reiterated the PA’s refusal to return to the negotiating table unless Israel halted settlement construction and released Palestinian prisoners.

Despite US efforts, no Egypt-Israel “hot line.” Cairo hosts Gen. Soleimani

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report January 14, 2013, 10:11 AM (GMT+02:00)

The new Israeli security fence along Egyptian border
The new Israeli security fence along Egyptian border

The Israel Defense Forces announced last week the closure to Israeli civilian traffic of a 182-kilometer long strip, 300 meters deep, along the Israeli-Egyptian border, carving out Israel’s first security zone in its sovereign territory. The step was taken as a direct result, debkafile reports, of the Obama administration’s failed effort to breathe life into the US-Egyptian-Israeli partnership for combating terror, when US Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence Michael Vickers visited Cairo earlier this month.
The three-way collaboration was concluded last November for ending the Gaza conflict and persuading Israel to refrain from a ground incursion into the Strip. Reconnecting the “hot line,” between the presidential palace in Cairo and Israel’s defense center in Tel Aviv was to have been part of the deal. Maintained by the Mubarak regime and military rule which followed, the line was cut off when the Muslim Brotherhood came to power last July.
However, according to our sources, Vickers’ mission to reactivate the Libyan and Sinai fronts against Islamist terror ran into a spirit of non-collaboration in Cairo. He found Egyptian leaders immersed in a process of rapprochement with Tehran brokered by Qatar, and was told that fighting the terrorist networks rampant in Sinai was not exactly convenient at that moment.
Instead, they were busy entertaining distinguished Iranian guests. debkafile’s intelligence sources report the first was Revolutionary Guards Al Qods Brigades commander, Gen. Qassem Soleimani, who paid a secret visit to Cairo last month, followed last Wednesday, Jan. 11, by Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akhbar Salehi.

It seems that President Mohamed Morsi has become a fan of Gen. Soleimani. He was deeply impressed by the feat he masterminded of keeping Syrian ruler Bashar Assad in power against all odds. The Iranian general was invited to Cairo to give Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood expert advice on keeping their regime safe from internal and external conspiracies.

Washington was disturbed most of all to discover that Qatar was the live wire which egged Cairo on to open up to friendship with Tehran. The Qataris oiled the works by promising cash-strapped Egypt a long-term loan of $2 billion on top of the first like amount extended last year. Both Washington and Jerusalem are baffled by Qatar’s inconsistency – on the one hand, robustly supporting the Syrian rebellion for the overthrow of Bashar Assad, Tehran’s closest ally, while furthering Iran’s drive to win over Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and expand its influence in the Arab world, on the other. How does this square with the new pro-US Sunni Muslim axis including Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, which American diplomats negotiated along with the Gaza ceasefire deal in November? Could Qatar be playing a double game by building a second bloc along with Egypt and Iran?
Qatar’s motivations are vitally important to Israel because its rulers are already spreading tentacles smoothed by heavy cash infusions deep into the Palestinian power centers of Gaza and the West Bank.
By working for détente with Iran, Egypt and Qatar could end up opening the Palestinian back door for Tehran to walk through in both territories. This prospect was behind Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s recent warnings that Hamas could land with both feet in the West Bank in a matter of days.
On Aug. 24, 2011, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, announced the IDF was no longer treating the Egyptian frontier as a border of peace in view of new perils. His words marked the end of the decades of calm Israel and Egypt enjoyed after signing their 1979 peace treaty.
On Dec. 26 2012, the IDF inaugurated the new Eilat Division, set up for defending southern Israel against the terrorist forces making free of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
On Jan. 2, the Prime Minister marked the completion of a new security fence built along the former peace border at a cost of NIS1.8 billion. However, Israeli strategists have concluded that a defensive border fence would not provide enough security against the teeming Islamist terrorists and al Qaeda networks occupying Sinai. Hence, the new security strip which closes Route 10, the main highway linking northern and southern Israel, to civilian traffic.
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s primary strategy for combating the menaces besetting Israel is defensive. However, fences may alleviate local threats for a time but cannot affect the big strategic changes overtaking Cairo, Damascus and out-of-control Sinai on Israel’s doorstep.

Egyptian court orders new trial for Mubarak

Mubarak supporters

By Jeffrey FleishmanJanuary 13, 2013, 3:04 a.m.

LA Times

An Egyptian court granted an appeal by former President Hosni Mubarak and ordered a new trial into the killings of hundreds of protesters during the 2011 uprising, a move certain to inflame the political unrest that has upset the country’s democratic transition.

The ruling was a victory for the ailing Mubarak and his Interior minister, Habib Adli, who also won his appeal. Both men, who had been sentenced to life in prison, face other criminal charges and are likely to remain in detention until a new trial in the deaths by security forces of more than 800 protesters.

“The previous ruling was unfair and illegal,” said Yousry Abdelrazeg, one of Mubarak’s lawyers, who accused the judge in the first trial of political bias. “The case was just a mess and there was no evidence against Mubarak.”

No date has been set for the new trial.

The court’s decision comes amid turmoil over an Islamist-backed constitution and outrage over the expanded powers of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi. It means a bloody chapter in Egypt’s 2011 revolt will be revisited with the prospect that Mubarak, whose police state ruled for 30 years, may be absolved in a case that deepened the nation’s political differences and impassioned the Arab world.

Mubarak was convicted in June of not preventing the deaths of hundreds of protesters attacked by police and snipers during the uprising, which began on Jan. 25, 2011, and ended 18 days later when he stepped aside and the military seized power.

Iran stages ‘modern warfare’ drill in Strait of Hormuz

Iran claims its capability to defend itself is growing and the Islamic republic is “prepared for any threat”. The statement follows tests of “modern warfare” capabilities and exercises to hone battle tactics in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The naval force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which is in charge of maintaining security in the Persian Gulf area, held exercises near the port city of Bandar Abbas, which holds a strategic position on the Strait of Hormuz. The main aim was to boost its forces combat readiness, familiarize them with the latest drills, and increase their response time.

The drills also tested well-timed responses to natural and manmade disasters, and allowed IRGC forces to operate new weapons, Iranian Press TV reported.

“Our present capabilities are incomparable to the past. Today, our youth, banking on the past experiences and modern science, have managed to show their capabilities to the world and be prepared for any threat,” IRGC Navy Commander Rear-Admiral Reza Torabi was quoted as saying.

This was the fifth such tactical exercise held by Tehran, however nothing was officially said about the previous tests.

Over the past few years, Iran has held several military drills to enhance the defensive capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and equipment.

One of the latest tests took place in December 2012, when Iran’s Navy held a six-day naval drill aimed to show “the armed forces’ military capabilities” in confronting enemy threats.

The maneuver also took place in the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route that accounts for more than a third of the world’s seaborne oil exports, and involved testing warships, submarines, jet fighters and hovercrafts.

Iran has been constantly upgrading its military capabilities lately. In recent years, Iran declared it had made great achievements in the defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in essential military equipment and systems. The country produces its own tanks, self-propelled guns and multiple rocket launchers. This September, Iran’s navy announced the launch of the overhauled super-heavy Tareq 901 submarine. Iran is also actively engaged in missile development. Its Shahab-3 long-range ballistic rocket has a range of 5,000km – meaning it could reach Israel and all US military bases in the Persian Gulf.

Chief of Staff sacks former C-in-C aide Wiener

Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz has sacked Brig. Erez Wiener, bureau chief of ex-army C-in-C Gaby Ashkenazi following the State Comptroller’s disclosure of his leading role two years ago, with disgraced ex-officer Boaz Harpaz, in digging out information to malign the defense minister and block Yoav Galant, his appointee’s appointment as chief of staff. Hundreds of Israeli security forces have raided and evicted an outpost set up by Palestinian activists in the occupied West Bank, despite an earlier injunction by Israel’s High Court preventing the government from such action.Several activists have allegedly been detained. There were also reports of some protesters being injured. On Friday over 200 Palestinians and foreign peace activists pitched tents in the disputed E1 areato protest Israeli settlement plans there. Around 20 large, steel-framed tents were set up in the “Bab Al Shams” camp, in a bid to preserve the area for an independent Palestinian state.Israeli forces entered the encampment early Sunday morning after surrounding the site late on Saturday and preventing activists from entering. The eviction was ordered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and came after an earlier injunction ordered by Israel’s High Court preventing the state from taking such action, Haaretz reports. The government told the court that the evacuation was a matter of “urgent security.”

The eviction also comes despite the tents being pitched on private Palestinian land, according to Haaretz.

Late on Saturday the Israeli government managed to convince the High Court that “there is an urgent security need to evacuate the area of the people and tents,” overturning an injunction on the action. Netanyahu’s office has said that it planned to declare the area a closed military zone.

The building of Israeli settlements has been condemned by many international powers, which say the move will be detrimental to securing an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal. Direct peace talks between Israel and Palestine broke down in 2010.

Israel has frozen building in E1 for many years, after coming under pressure from then US President George W. Bush.

However, Netanyahu announced settlement plans after the Palestinians won de-facto state recognition at the UN General Assembly last year. Those plans involve building around 4,000 housing units in the area.

Homeland Security Says Kill Your Java Now! (overreaction?)
January 12, 2013

ZDNet is reporting today that the U.S Department of homeland Security is advising PC computer users to disable their Java software to protect their computers against active cyber attacks taking place across the Internet.

According to ZDNet:

Hackers have discovered a weakness in Java 7 security that could allow the installation of malicious software and malware on machines that could increase the chance of identity theft, or the unauthorized participation in a botnet that could bring down networks or be used to carry out denial-of-service attacks against Web sites.

But is this an overreaction?

According to online security experts, there are real attacks happening in “the wild” right now that can allow an attacker to launch any program of choice from your computer after you simply visit an infected webpage.

The vulnerability is effective against all PCs regardless of the brand of Anti Virus software you are using, including the Schlock-recommended Norton 360.

However, there is another way to protect yourself that allows you to enjoy the web-based benefits of Java while also protecting your PC and few seem to be discussing it.

How You Can Keep Java AND Protect Your PC

There is a little talked about feature built into Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox called “Click-to-Play” that could keep your computer safe and sound from this type of attack.

This feature required you to click on a media content box before the Java or Flash will automatically activate. Since many of these infections result from this kind of content automatically executing when you visit the page, the click-to-play requirement effectively stops the infection in its tracks. Unless of course you click-to-infect.

This feature is built into Mozilla Firefox and enabled by default. Therefore, if you use Firefox you do not have to do anything at this point.

If you use Google Chrome, the click-to-play feature is also built in but is not enabled by default. You must enable it manually. Life Hacker has a simple set of instructions on enabling click-to-play in Google Chrome.

Recommendations From Schrock for Safe Computing

Ditch Internet Explorer RIGHT NOW. Even if you hate Firefox or Chrome switch to it until an update for Java fixes this problem. It shouldn’t take Oracle long.

To be safe to basic users, switch to Firefox instead. For users confident in their ability to modify settings Chrome can be an alternative if properly configured.

As always, we recommend you equip your PC with Norton 360 because it does the best job of keeping the bad guys out.

If you want to automatically get the latest Java update as soon as it is released, install a trial copy of Secure Updater. It’s free for 14 days and that should be enough time for Oracle to get this patched up.

At least 27 injured as Egyptian opposition protesters attacked with Molotov cocktails, birdshot (VIDEO)

At least 27 people have been injured in Egypt’s capital after attackers fired birdshot and threw Molotov cocktails at people taking part in a sit-in, protesting the country’s new Islamist-backed constitution which has deeply divided the nation.

In the latest case of Egyptian demonstrators being targeted, about a dozen masked assailants attacked the protesters’ camp outside the presidential palace on Saturday. The sit-in was started by the opponents of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi on December 4, amid a fierce debate over the new constitution.

The total number of wounded in the attack stands at 27, including seven members of the security forces, Itar-Tass reports citing Interioir Ministry.

Witnesses say the attackers threw Molotov cocktails at the camp, setting some tents on fire.

Egypt’s new constitution has proven extremely divisive, sparking violence across the country. It was passed with a 64 per cent “yes” vote in a referendum last month and was signed into law by President Morsi on December 26.

At least 10 people died in clashes outside the presidential palace on December 5, which broke-out after Morsi supporters attacked the protesters’ sit-in.

Iran Denies Responsibility for U.S. Bank Cyber Attacks

Iran said it was not involved in a long string of cyber attacks that have disrupted the websites of a slew of American national and regional banks since fall of last year. The Islamic Republic also accused the U.S. and Israel of repeatedly attacking its technological infrastructure.

“Iran respects the international law and refrains from targeting other nations’ economic or financial institutions,” the country’s mission to the United Nations said in a statement Thursday, according to the semi-official FARS News Agency.

The report from FARS also specifically references the cyber attacks on U.S. financial companies, saying “raising such groundless accusations are aimed at sullying Iran’s image and fabricating pretexts to push ahead with and step up illegal actions against the Iranian nation and government.”

Al-Qaeda and the Arab Spring

Thomas Joscelyn
January 11, 2013

Sitting in his Abbottabad, Pakistan, compound just days before his demise in May 2011, Osama bin Laden surveyed the political turmoil in the Middle East. In a memo dated April 26, 2011, the terror master assessed his terrorist organization’s prospects for the future. From bin Laden’s perspective, the Arab Spring presented new opportunities for al-Qaeda and its virulent ideology.

Bin Laden surmised that “current conditions have brought on unprecedented opportunities and the coming of Islamic governments that follow the Salafi doctrine is a benefit to Islam.” (Salafists believe in an austere version of Islam, and believe that modern Muslim societies have veered from the appropriate path.)

While bin Laden branded the Muslim Brotherhood and like-minded organizations “half solutions,” he also believed that “there is a sizable direction within the Brotherhood that holds the Salafi doctrine, so the return of the Brotherhood and those like them to the true Islam is a matter of time.” Bin Laden urged his followers to avoid fighting the newly-installed Islamist regimes, and to instead steer them towards a more extreme position.
