Fort Lee, N.J.- Fort Lee police officers are being credited with saving a baby deer.

According to police, they responded to the call Thursday morning saying a baby deer was found alone.

The workers at a local gas station reported that the baby deer had been there for 3 days.

Police say an adult deer had been struck by a car and killed days before in the area. They believe that deer was the mother of the baby deer.

Police officers attempted to give the deer water and food throughout the day. Finally, the deer started to respond to their attempts.

The deer was taken to Oradell Animal Hospital and will eventually be released back into the wild.
