facebook.com_2014-10-19_13-02-16As some of you know, my husband and I are involved in some activism and he does political talk radio in the evenings. We have met some amazing people and have made some VERY dear friends. One of my husband’s long time co-hosts on the radio network (he’s also done a lot of work with “We Are Change”), Sean, (known as Popeye to the listeners) and his wife Merce, have become extremely close friends of ours. Hardly a day has gone by in many years, that we haven’t spoken to them. They have both put a lot of good things and positive energy out into the world.

10606278_10205059761243093_2370564198011266362_nSuddenly on Wednesday night, she suffered a severe asthma attack and lost consciousness. Her husband was there, was able to preform CPR on her until paramedics arrived and she was rushed to the hospital, where she was then admitted into the ICU on life support, after they finished working on her. They had put her into a medically induced coma initially and yesterday, they started trying to bring her out of it. Everyone was hopeful and many prayers have been being offered for our friends Sean and Merce. Unfortunately, after doing some extensive testing, it was discovered today that she is brain dead and will have to be removed from life support.

She was so young (32) and healthy (yoga instructor) and just moments prior to the incident, she was laughing with and enjoying time with her husband. It’s hard to imagine that someone could be taken from us in such a manner…so suddenly and seemingly without good cause. They were still in the process of getting settled into their new home and making plans to start a new chapter in their lives.

Her husband, a military vet & former fire fighter, who loves his country and spends a lot of his own personal time, trying to get others to care about this country as well, now will have to drop everything to deal with having to bury his heart….his best friend, partner, lover, and soul mate. Although family has come in from out of town, they were on their own. There are no friends or family living close to them and when all the dust settles, he will have to pick up the pieces on his own. We, their friends, will do our best to try to ensure that he is able to get through these dark days…the darkest of his life, I’m sure. Hopefully, one of us will be able to get down there and help get him through this. There will be a lot of things to do. Our hearts are shattered for the loss of such a sweet, precious soul, but I know she’s in a much better place than here, now. Please pray for my friend…he’s going to need all the strength he can get. Also, don’t take a minute with your loved ones for granted…you just never know when you won’t see them again.

For those who are interested in making a donation to help with medical bills and funeral expenses (she didn’t have life insurance) you can send a contribution to Sean (Popeye) via his paypal account…his email address is: [email protected]
