old 45By hook and crook, the government is trying to take away Americans’ guns and their rights to guns.  There is no way they can abolish the 2nd Amendment, so they are setting up laws and ‘safeguards’ and bureaucratic regulations to prohibit or limit the private ownership of guns in our country. This latest that the Obama administration is pulling is a cheap shot.  The idea is to totally go around the U.S. Constitution and, by treaty abolish guns for the private owner.  By entering into a treaty the governments folks think that the treaty will have more enforceable weight.  It doesn’t.  But they will, regardless of whoever occupies the Whitehouse, waste taxpayer money to negate a natural right to the arms with which we may defend ourselves.

Obama Officials Heading To Mexico To Discuss International Gun Control Via UN Treaty

(Awr Hawkins)  On August 24 officials from the Obama administration will be attending the UN Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) conference in Mexico City.

The ATT was signed by Secretary of State John Kerry on September 25, 2013 but never ratified by the US Senate. Nevertheless, Gun Owners of America reports that Obama officials will be in Mexico City for the conference.

Breitbart News previously reported that the ATT is an international gun control treaty designed to be implemented apart from, or in spite of, the general framework of governance for countries that are signatories to it.

Thus, while it will not do away with the Second Amendment on paper, it will subjugate the Second Amendment to the ATT’s gun controls if Obama administration officials return and implement the plans they will discuss in Mexico City.

ATT was pushed under the guise of stopping “small arms [and] light weapons” from crossing borders. And when it was being discussed in 2013, Breitbart News warned that firearm registration must proceed from the ATT if it is to be enforceable. After all, how can agents tasked with enforcing this treaty ascertain the origin of smuggled weapons without a comprehensive registration on file?

Moreover, the NRA pointed out that the treaty all but calls for a registry from the start inasmuch as it requires “importing countries to provide information to an exporting country regarding arms transfers, including ‘end use or end user documentation’ for a ‘minimum of ten years.’” This information on “end users” is not only a de-factointernational gun registry but one that could be “made available to foreign governments.”

Because of all these troubling aspects of ATT, Gun Owners of America (GOA) warns that the Mexico City conference is part of a plan “to bring back the framework for a global gun control regime.” GOA encourages every gun owner to call his or her US Senator and ask that they stand strong against any international gun control recommendations or regulations that the Obama administration pushes after the August 24 ATT conference.

We must be diligent, especially because Democrat Senators have already shown their willingness to subjugate the Second Amendment to the ATT. Forty-four Democrat Senators voted for the ATT in April 2013.

More government wasteful spending to eliminate private ownership of guns.  What would $10,000 do for you? All you have to do is tattle on someone. What does the government regard as an illegal gun?  How is the casual observer to know which gun is legal or illegal?  Just like the witchcraze in Europe, one need only make the accusation and then the inquisitor/police come, and they will ‘find the truth’. Of course the gun in question has been taken by the police as ‘evidence’ and if it is not registered properly or is an heirloom, or any other designed ‘infraction’ be then declared illegal.

There Are So Many Illegal Guns In DC, The Mayor Is Paying $10,000 To Get Them Off The Streets

(Josh Fatzick)  Murders in Washington, D.C., are up more than 35 percent this year and the city’s mayor, running short on ideas, has decided to pay criminals to hand over their illegal guns.

Mayor Muriel Bowser sent a letter to city residents Wednesday offering a reward of as much as $10,000 for information that leads to the recovery of an illegal gun.(VIDEO: DC’s Police Chief Accidentally Details What’s Wrong With Gun Laws)

“Illegal firearms are responsible for most homicides in the District. And illegal guns continue to make their way into the hands of violent criminals,” Bowser wrote. “Our police department is making progress – but they cannot do it alone.”

Bowser, along with the city’s police chief Cathy Lanier, announced that the city is now offering a reward of $2,500 for a tip that leads police to a gun. If the tip leads to the arrest and conviction in a shooting, the reward jumps to $10,000.

The move comes just two days after three people were killed in the city in a matter of five hours. One of them on the steps of a church.

The city is grappling with a huge spike in homicides. At 98 so far this year, Washington has seen a 35 percent rise over the same time last year, and is closing in on 105, the total number of murders seen in 2014.

According to Bowser’s letter, the Metropolitan Police Department has seized close to 1,000 illegal guns from criminals already this year. The police have taken over 100 in just the last month, including an Uzi submachine gun from a home where children were present.

Baltimore, which is about 40 miles from Washington has seen 211 murders this year, which is equal to the amount the city saw all of 2014.

If that is not enough, the Social Security Administration has gotten in on the act. They have decided (not by vote or by passing through the legislation) that if an American is on Social Security, that that American is de facto mentally incapable of carrying a firearm.  No ruling made by a judge, or jury, or lawmaker. Accept Social Security Benefits for which you paid while working, will deprive you the right to arm and defend yourself.

Social Security Admits Plan to Add Recipients to Gun Background Check System

NRA, Republicans promise further action to oppose the move

August 20, 2015 4:10 pm

The Social Security Administration (SSA) said in a letter to the House Ways and Means Committee that it plans to add some recipients to the federal gun background check system, effectively barring them from legally purchasing firearms.

The letter was in response to the committee’s concern over a Los Angeles Times report that Social Security was planning to add millions of beneficiaries, those who have designated somebody else to manage their finances, to the National Instant Background Check System (NICS). The letter, which came a week after the committee had requesteda response from the agency, said that while SSA is considering adding some recipients to NICS, they do not plan to add every recipient who has designated another party to manage their finances.

“We are looking at possible implementation scenarios,” said the letter from Carolyn Colvin, the SSA’s acting commissioner. “However, we are not exploring any option that would refer all SSA beneficiaries with representative payees to the NICS.”

The National Rifle Association (NRA) was unhappy with the letter and said they would fight to prevent abuse of the background check system.

“The Obama administration will stop at nothing to strip as many people as possible of their Second Amendment rights through executive action,” said Jennifer Baker,  spokeswoman for the NRA. “We know that the Veterans Affairs Department is denying people their constitutional rights based on having a fiduciary and that the Social Security Administration is developing a similar system to enter people into the NICS system. The SSA response does not adequately address our concerns and leaves the door open for abuse.”

“The NRA will continue to employ all means available to prevent the implementation of such a widespread injustice.”

The letter did not satisfy the committee’s concerns either. “This response is not sufficient,” said Brendan Buck, a committee spokesman. “Social Security should not be used as a tool to restrict Americans’ Second Amendment rights, and we are exploring next steps to stop this ploy.”
