From the grassy knoll to fake moon landings, everyone likes a good conspiracy theory. Sure, many are dismissed as speculation and urban legend, while others have a ring of truth to them.
The entertainment world has its own mountain of puzzling ones — everything from fake baby bumps to “murder” tales.
And like the X-Files said for many years, the truth is out there somewhere.
The Theory: Tupac/Biggie deaths
The Tale: Tupac Shakur is generally believed to have been killed in a drive-by shooting in 1996 on the Las Vegas strip. After his death, his estate released several albums, which sparked rumors that he was secretly hiding out somewhere and recording new music. Fans have pointed out that some of the songs make references to things that didn’t exist before he was killed, including a shout-out to the movie Armageddon. Theorists, meanwhile, claim that Notorious B.I.G. may have been offed by the L.A.P.D., and then the murder was covered up.
The Theory: Kurt Cobain was murdered
The Tale: Questions surrounding the Nirvana frontman’s suicide in April of 1994 began immediately after police found him in his guest house with a shotgun wound to his head. A bizarre suicide note, no fingerprints found on the gun’s trigger, and a credit card in his name being used around the time of death led to speculation that his wife, Courtney Love, was somehow behind his death.
