After two days of intense talks about Iraq and Ukraine at the Nato Summit in Newport, Barack Obama enjoyed a spot of sightseeing at Stonehenge.

The US president surprised fellow tourists when he turned up at the world-famous ancient monument in Wiltshire – a visit that was reportedly on his “bucket list” of things to do.

He was given a guided tour by Heather Sebire, English Heritage’s Stonehenge curator, who said the US President was “fascinated” by the history of the stones and the mysteries surrounding them.
