http://www.nukewatch.org/wipp/WIPP/graphics/Aerial.jpgAccording to Red Dirt Report, a rather serious radiological event happened about a week ago at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (known as “WIPP” to the feds), about 30 miles northwest of Carlsbad, NM. This event has been barely touched upon by the national, mainstream media, and some questions have been raised about the extent of the damage caused by an underground fire/explosion at the beginning of February.

On the 19th, the Carlsbad Current-Argus reported a “radiation event” that took http://enviroleaks.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/wippdetail.jpgplace sometime between the 11th and the 16th. Trace amounts of both americum and plutonium have been released from salt mines almost half a mile underground.

John Heaton, chairman of the Carlsbad Nuclear Task Force reportedly said: “At this time there is no concern. We definitely know that the amounts are miniscule. I think the risks are extremely low and I certainly have no worries about it personally.”

Heaton said he does not want the public to jump to any “rash conclusions” about the “radiation event.” He said investigators will have to go underground and look to see what happened within the next month or so.

http://www.gtcceis.anl.gov/images/photos/wipp_disposal.jpgRussell Hardy, director of the Carslbad Environmental Monitoring and Research Center, assured the public through the Current-Argus report that americum and plutonium are “heavy” and aren’t supposed to travel far from the original source.

However, seeing how hard the CEMRC and the DOE have been working to play down the seriousness of this event and the fact that information on windfall estimations is scarce, we may want to be wary of trusting them. Look what happened at Fukushima: The governments and Tepco all colluded together to downplay the extent of the situation, and as a result, needlessly exposed millions of people to dangerous levels of radiation.

http://www.symmetrymagazine.org/sites/default/files/legacy/images/200505/searching_chart2.gifInterestingly enough, the CEMRC is offering residents living within 100 miles of the WIPP facility to get free radiation testing, in case they were somehow exposed.

The most that Hardy’s personnel at the New Mexico State University-affiliated CEMRC will admit is that they “have detected trace amounts of the radioactive isotopes americium and plutonium on an air filter from an ambient air sampling station located approximately six-tenths of a mile northwest” of the WIPP facility.

What caused this event still remains unclear. The investigative research blog POTRblog.com, reported this past Thursday that their research concluded that “All indications are that this was a radiation induced explosion of hydrogen, methane and/or VOC produced from radioactive wastes which are too radioactive to handle, which also happen to be coated with hazardous waste.”

There is also reportedly a “Russian connection” to WIPP, according to this report – a report we have been unable to independently verify.

WIPP just happens to be the nation’s only disposal facility for “TRU” (or transuranic) http://www.state.nv.us/nucwaste/graphics/wipp02.gifwaste, a radioactive material made from the nation’s Cold War-era nuclear weapons program.

According to unverified sources,a “highly-significant” portion of the waste being stored at WIPP was the result of the recently-completed HEU Purchase Agreement from 1993 between the U.S. and Russia, which saw 500 metric tons of highly-enriched uranium (HEU) from nuclear weapons that have been downblended into low-enriched uranium and sent to America, where it was made into fuel for our nuclear power plants, and of which US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz stated:

“For two decades, one in 10 light bulbs in America has been powered by nuclear material from Russian nuclear warheads.”

http://www.uranium.info/images/uploaded/heu.jpgHowever, when reading the actual HEU Purchase Agreement, it is very vague in it’s description of where exactly the uranium will be held:

To accelerate the down-blending of HEU, a report released by Harvard’s Belfer Center and the Nuclear Threat Initiative suggests that “by paying Russia a fee for service to blend additional HEU to LEU and then hold it in storage in Russia (rather than flooding the uranium mining, enrichment, and conversion markets with it), the national security objective of destroying HEU could be decoupled from market constraints.”

And the fact that it’s the Belfer Center whose writing up a lot of these negotiations scares me. I just wrote a few days ago about how the Belfer Center directly supports the destabilization of countries like Venezuela:

Named after Robert Belfer of the Belco Petroleum Corporation and later, director of the failed Enron Corporation, the Belfer Center describes itself as being “the hub of the Harvard Kennedy School’s research, teaching, and training in international security affairs, environmental and resource issues, and science and technology policy.” Robert Belfer still sits in as an International Council Member.

http://chronicle.com/img/photos/biz/icons/RAND%20logo%20corp_WEB.JPGBelfer’s director, Graham Allison provides an example of self-serving corporatism steering US policy. He was a founder of the Trilateral Commission, a director of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), a consultant to the RAND Corporation, Director of the Getty Oil Company, Natixis, Loomis Sayles, Hansberger, Taubman Centers, Inc., and Belco Oil and Gas, as well as a member of the advisory boards of Chase Bank, Chemical Bank, Hydro-Quebec, and the shady International Energy Corporation, all according to his official Belfer Center bio.

Other questionable personalities involved as a Belfer alumnus are Goldman Sachs, CFR member, and former-World Bank president Robert Zoellick. Sitting on the board of directors is CFR member and former Goldman Sachs consultant, Ashton Carter. There is also former director of Citigroup and Raytheon, former Director of Central Intelligence and CFR member John Deutch, who required a http://i.huffpost.com/gen/1109619/thumbs/s-CIA-large.jpg?6pardon by Clinton to avoid prosecution over a breach of security while fumbling his duties at the CIA. Meanwhile, Nathaniel Rothschild of Atticus Capital and RIT Capital Partners, Paul Volcker of the Federal Reserve, and former DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff all serve as Belfer Center’s “advisers.”

http://zombietime.com/john_holdren/obamalooking.jpg

Last but not least, there is John P. Holdren, also a Council on Foreign Relations member, science adviser to both President Clinton and President Obama, and co-author with Paul Ehrilich, of the now notorious book Ecoscience. When Holdren isn’t brand-building for “Climate Disruption,” he is dreaming of a Malthusian-fueled totalitarian global government that forcibly sterilizes the world’s population. He feared, erroneously, that overpopulation would be the end of humanity. He claimed in his hubris filled, fact deficient book, The No Growth Society, that by the year 2040, the United States would have a dangerously unsustainable population of 280 million he called “much too many.” The current US population is over 300 million, and despite reckless leadership and policies, it is still sustainable.

http://cryptome.org/eyeball/wipp-routes.jpgThis lends even more credibility to the idea that not just plutonium-contaminated materials and americum are being held at the WIPP facility, and that HEU or LEU could have been released in this latest incident. That would add a much more dangerous element to the entire equation if that were true, since uranium (especially highly-enriched uranium) is much more dangerous when airborne.

In fact, it is rather difficult to disperse plutonium in air as a respirable dust. Individual particles tend to agglomerate into lumps of too large a size to be inhaled. In the experiments on animals, substantial effort and ingenuity was required to overcome this problem and arrange for the plutonium dust to be inhaled.

http://9999.us/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/USEC%20logo_0.jpg?itok=PjMZc2V_But wait, it gets even more interesting: The United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC), the American corporation serving as executive agent for the entire HEU Purchase Agreement, was “deliberately targeted” for elimination by the Obama regime right after his first election. This lead to it’s December 16th announcement that it had reached an agreement with a majority of it’s debt holders to file a prearranged and voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring in the first quarter of 2014.

If anyone’s wondering why the Obama regime would want to eliminate the USEC, Russian intelligence experts from the FSB say that it was to divert HEU Purchase Agreement uranium for the purpose of reconstituting it to it’s highly-dangerous U-235 level to conduct experiments at WIPP on what is termed “nuclear salt-water rockets” (NSWR), a proposed type of nuclear thermal rocket designed by physicist Robert Zubrin that would be fueled by water bearing dissolved salts of plutonium or U-235. According to the FSB, the only way the U.S. government could get away with these experiments was to use Russia’s HEU, since any other nuclear material would be scrutinized by the pencil pushers at the DOE.

What’s really bizarre is that a little over a week before the event, a salt truck underground at the north mine caught on fire, which resulted in the mandatory evacuation of all WIPP personnel. While the DOE was looking into the cause of the fire, “the radiation leak occurred,” reports the Current-Argus. It’s been rumored that a plutonium release could’ve occurred with that incident as well, http://www.koat.com/image/view/-/24339526/medRes/2/-/wva7e/-/img-Cause-of-WIPP-fire-under-investigation.jpgalthough that has not been confirmed. The mainstream media, upon reporting the radiation leak, specifically said over and over that the truck fire had “nothing to do with” the radiation leak just a week later.

According to the FSB’s report, on February 5th, these NSWR experiments at the WIPP went “horrifically wrong”, which led to an explosion and subsequent fire at the facility, followed by the “radiological event” that occurred on Valentine’s Day, which prompted it’s full evacuation.

The Russian nuclear experts’ greatest concern, according to their report, is the Obama regime conducting these NSWR experiments at the WIPP facility in the first place, as the entire Carlsbad, NM region is in danger of collapsing due to the massive sinkholes that have appeared over these areas’ vast underground salt domes:

Making matters worse are reports out of New Mexico that their drought-stricken farmers are selling massive amounts of water to fracking companies, which has been draining their aquifer and leading to even more destabilization at the WIPP underground nm_dmfacility.

This is important, because many scientists for decades have considered salt to have serious deficiencies in comparison to other geologic formations for spent nuclear fuel and high-level waste because heat-generating waste like that can rapidly deform the rock and create instability that could endanger workers and release radioactive elements.

Also, the WIPP site is surrounded by active oil and gas production facilities, and reserves underlie the waste disposal area, which means that mining in this area could result in breaches and releases of radioactive elements. Pressurized brine reservoirs also lie underneath the waste disposal area, which could result in waste being transported to the surface, if a pathway is created by mining or other means.

The same thing is being encountered right now in Bayou Corne, Louisiana, where fracking waste and dangerous chemicals are being held indefinitely in salt domes that have now formed a giant sinkhole that doesn’t seem to do anything except get bigger by the day:

http://headwaterseconomics.org/wphw/wp-content/uploads/nm_oil.pngIn addition, the WIPP site is surrounded by active oil and natural gas production facilities, and reserves underlie the waste disposal area, the mining of which could result in breaches and releases of radioactivity. Pressurized brine reservoirs also underlie the waste disposal area, which could result in waste being transported to the surface, if a pathway is created by mining or other means.Today, a town hall meeting is said to be held in Carlsbad to answer questions from the public. Information for residents can be found here.

“This forum will allow the members of the public the direct opportunity to ask WIPP officials their questions,” said Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway in a Current-Argus report.

http://www.kob.com/kobtvimages/repository/2014-02/WIPP_to_be_shut_down_for_three_wekks_due_to_radiation_leak-syndImport-073221.jpgThere is a lot that officials still don’t know about this “radiation event”. The SRIC (Southwest Research and Information Center) notes that there are still many unknown things about this serious event, such as:

1. What caused the release

2. What allowed some contaminants to travel almost 2 miles, which directly contradicts Hardy and CEMRC’s quotes.

3. The identification of the radionuclides and chemicals and their exact amounts that have been released.

4. Where all the contaminants not captured by the filters are, and whether they’re inside or outside the WIPP boundary.

And these are just preliminary questions! We haven’t even been able to ask yet what kind of response the DOE and FEMA are prepared to instigate in the event of a worse leak than first assumed.

Meanwhile, “downwinders” in New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma should be on alert, according to the Feb. 22, 2014 report from OptimalPrediction.com in their article “Plutonium release from the WIPP radioactive waste facility.”

Wind-trajectory maps from the Valentine’s Day nuke release shows cities in the path of the plutonium to include Roswell, New Mexico, the Texas cities of Lubbock, San Angelo and Wichita Falls, and Elk City, Oklahoma.

The report adds: “At any rate, people who live in areas of southeastern New Mexico, northwest Texas and western Oklahoma should all be concerned.”

Here is a link to the dispersion map provided at OptimalPrediction.com.

And don’t forget that this past December, according to Red Dirt Report, a “firTHE COURIER / Joshua Mashone” took place at Unit 2 of the Arkansas Nuclear One plant in Russellville, AR. Just like with the WIPP facility incident, this one was also hardly reported on.

And while we are on the subject of nuclear disasters, on Feb. 28, 2014, at the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas, there will be an event called “Nuclear http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5d/Castle_Bravo_Blast.jpg/1280px-Castle_Bravo_Blast.jpgRemembrance Day” held on the 60th anniversary of the catastrophic Castle Bravo hydrogen bomb test that was conducted on Bikini Atoll on March 1, 1954 in the Marshall Islands. The fallout of that nuclear test created a horrific humanitarian nightmare over generations, including high rates of thyroid cancer, leukemia and other radiation-induced diseases.

Of course the media does not like revisiting that event or covering anything related to nuclear weapons or radioactive “incidents.” Look at the clampdown on real information regarding Fukushima and the contamination of wide swaths of the Pacific Ocean and elsewhere. Big Nuke has a powerful grip on the media.

As POTRblog.com notes: “New Mexico is America’s newest “Bikini Atoll” of nuclear research;  cause you can’t just let a good nuclear disaster go to waste. Just tell the natives its all safe; then offer them free “Health” research and track them over the years.
