Police Release Sandy Hook Investigation Documents

Includes More than 1,000 Pages About the Massacre That Killed 26

Connecticut State Police released a final report Friday afternoon on the deadly shooting that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, 2012.

The long-awaited report is more than 1,000 pages long and includes investigative files, photos and 911 calls, according to the state police. Some of the files are “redacted according to law,” the state police said.

The release of the documents concludes the state police’s criminal investigation of the crime in which 20 children and six staff members were killed at the school.

Friday’s release follows a summary report issued by prosecutors in November that concluded that 20-year-old shooter Adam Lanza was obsessed with mass murders, including the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado. Law-enforcement officials discovered a spreadsheet that cataloged famous mass murders and that names of the assailants.

The summary report described Mr. Lanza as a disturbed young man who disliked being touched and became more withdrawn as he grew older. That report said Mr. Lanza kept his bedroom windows covered by black trash bags and had little interaction with the outside world.

Prosecutors, however, were unable to identify a motive for the killings.
