Last year, a few readers wrote in to tell me they actually saved big money by switching to Obamacare.
My response to them: Just wait.
It’s like those cable company “special offers” that con you into getting everything from them — cable, TV and phone — all at one too-good-to-be-true rate. A year later, the special offer expires and the cable company jacks the price all the way up to the moon.
Here we are, one year later, and that’s exactly what’s happening with Obamacare plans. The 2016 rates are trickling out, and folks who thought they were saving big money are getting some serious sticker shock.
At a time when inflation is supposedly a fraction of a percent, one of the biggest insurer in New Mexico, Health Care Service Corp., plans to raise rates by 51.6 percent on average. Tennessee’s BlueCross BlueShield is raising premiums by 36.3 percent, while Maryland’s CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is requesting a hike of 30.4 percent, according to Breitbart.com.
Around the nation rates are going up, up, up and away — and while you can cancel your cable, switch phone companies and even make do without Internet in a pinch, there’s NOTHING you can do about rising insurance rates.
You are REQUIRED BY LAW to have insurance. And the same law that forces it on you doesn’t set any limit on how much rates can rise — so your bank account is practically being held hostage.
Yes, friend, the “Affordable” Care Act is doing just as I predicted and making care UNAFFORDABLE for everyone.
All that extra money is doing two things: It’s lining the pockets of insurance industry bigwigs and their political allies, and it’s paying for the “free” healthcare promised to millions.
Some of them are unable to work, but many are perfectly capable and flat-out refuse to get a job — and these layabouts are getting a free ride on YOUR hard-earned dough.
You won’t get a thank-you card for your forced generosity, but you can still put the USPS to work. Keep writing those letters to your elected officials and DEMAND that they repeal Obamacare.
It’s not too late to turn this thing around!
