A passenger jet narrowly avoided colliding with a drone in the air near Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Friday morning, sources said.
Shuttle America flight 2708 was heading toward LaGuardia Airport from Washington, D.C., when the unmanned drone showed up in its flight path, the source said.
The pilot had to swerve upwards about 200 feet to avoid hitting the drone.
The plane later landed safely.
An investigator with the Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating and is about to interview the flight crew to find out what happened, sources said.
The drone encounter came just hours after five pilots reported being targeted by a green laser near the city.
Four of the pilots were flying about 4 miles northwest of Farmingdale, L.I., when they reported being targeted by the laser between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday, Federal Aviation Administration officials said.
Two of the flights were from Delta, one was from American Airlines and one was from Shuttle America. At least three of the flights had taken off from Kennedy Airport.
Two hours later, a Sun Country Airlines pilot encountered a green laser about 14 miles southwest of JFK Airport.
