computer-tablet-phone-300x196Florida’s representatives must not be very good at law and, well, basic reading skills. The recent bill outlawing internet cafes that promote online gambling was so terribly worded that an interpretation of the law could be that all computers (as well as smartphones) are now banned in the state of Florida. According to the Huffington Post:

The ban defines illegal slot machines as any “system or network of devices” that may be used in a game of chance.

TIME writer Doug Aamoth satirically concluded that “this law should go further and ban voice calls, too. And TV.” so that maybe tourism in Florida would once again be about wildlife tours and such.

“Hey, I just went on a fan-boat tour and since my phone didn’t work, I actually turned my head from side to side instead of straight downward. I SAW ANIMALS!”

All joking aside, however, this is just another indication that our lawmakers are becoming so dumbed-down themselves that they are no longer able to create or enforce laws altogether.
