Up to 100 people were sickened by the outbreak involved two youth football teams from California. However, officials are saying that they still need more time to figure out just how many people in Vegas have norovirus. Those afflicted usually develop flu-like symptoms (nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea). A team from Santa Monica, California made up about 50 cases, whereas the Bakersfield, California team made up another 25 cases.

“For them to have many more cases, it’s logical they were more closely related to how it started”, tournament spokesman Justin Gates told the AP. “What most likely happened is it started possibly on those teams and incubated on them before spreading to other people.”

“I don’t know where he (Gates) gets those numbers,” he said Sunday. “It could take time to get a reliable figure. When we get a figure, we’re not going to know the exact number because we don’t expect 100 percent of the people to respond to the survey.’”
