Although a modified gag order was put into place earlier this year, Aurora’s firefighters are still being told by their superiors not to speak publicly about the shooting.

“We need to learn. We need to learn from the things we could have done better,” said Randy Rester, president of the Aurora firefighters union.

FOX31 in Denver recently interviewed the firefighters, who believe that there is a “double standard” going on and are feeling very frustrated by it:

“We’re carrying around a lot of baggage it needs to be dealt with it,” Rester said.“We’re carrying around a lot of baggage it needs to be dealt with it,” Rester said.

Apparently, the only man allowed to talk about the event is the firefighter Chief, Mike Garcia, who has been quite the jet-setter since the shooting, speaking at many different engagements throughout the country. However, even he is claiming that a lot of what he’s allowed to say is – dare we say it? – staged?

“They {presentations} are very limited, they are scrutinized very closely to make sure I work with the parameters that are set out,” said Chief Garcia.

Maybe a story stays straighter when only one person is telling it?
